Thought we would get a little feedback before we create a birthday section on our frontpage.

I don't see any harm in having the Birthdays listed, but some people would rather not have their age listed too.

Thankfully, I do not mind my age being shown. wheelchair.gif

Personally, it reminds me of my age, You know Part-Timers Disease. I forget now and then. tongue.gif

I personally don't mind and this is a woman saying this smile.gif What ever the majority rules is fine with me. biggrin.gif

God Bless,

Sounds good to me

And birthdate I believe is optional in the profile (if not Paul 3rd suggestion of the day laugh.gif and man it's only 6:40 AM LOL laugh.gif ) so they can chose not to have their birthday listed. Now Paul maybe another option might be to allow them to set the month and day but not year for those not wanting to publish exactly how old they are and make sure to mark in the profile area that year is optional!!!

Being politics moderator though I actually find it helpful to gage the experiance of those I am discussing with not that age is a true measure but gives me an idea how much political nightmares they've been through laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

My age posted on the front page! fear.gif

Just wait until after Thanksgiving OK, that'll give me a year to get used to the idea, or manipulate the year. Not that anyone would do that. wink.gif

Hey I didn?t think of removing the age. I could make a few changes so just the name of the person shows. It is kinda nice to know the age of the birthday person ? maybe in the forum leave the age down below on the stats, but on the frontpage just have the fact it is the members birthday?

Posted by: 3Ravens 05-Nov-2003, 10:56 AM
Take the age off, then Annabelle can be 18 forever!

Posted by: kidclaymore 05-Nov-2003, 04:31 PM
Sounds good to me Mac. The age deal doesn't make any difference to me ether.

I have no problem with sharing my birthdate with fellow listeners. We love to celebrate down my way. beer_mug.gif band.gif

3Ravens,

Annabelle will remain 18 whether it is list or not. tongue.gif

I agree Richard - Annabelle will stay 18 as long as she feels 18. All is good.

Yes, display the birthdays on the frontpage, but perhaps show the age only in the forum.

I think it's a great Idea to have birthdays on the front page, it give us a chance to wish those whos special day it is best wishes and such. you might also consider putting in Anniversary date for Marriages, the day they Joined this site etc.. I am a firm believer that every one is a very special person in thier own way and should always feel that way.
Blessed Be,
Angel

It doesn't hurt my feelings if anyone knows my age!

My problem is strangers (not you guys) being able to see my birthdate. There has been too much identity theft.

Good point Ravenwing.

Perhaps an option in the control panel that allows you to display or not display your birthday on the frontpage might be a good solution. I will give it some thought and see how difficult it will or won't be!

Posted by: scottish2 08-Nov-2003, 07:09 PM
or maybe even as a whole to display or not even in forum maybe if possible have 2 options one for front page and one for forum in case a user just doesn't want the age displayed anywhere.

For me it's irrelevent I could careless if folks know my age. smile.gif

I'm 4 and holding I just refuse to grow up LOL laugh.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

I don't have a problem with my age being posted either. cool.gif I agree with scottish2, I refuse to grow up. wink.gif

I would suggest just keeping it friendly and simple. Post those who have a birthday that choose to list it in their profile. Still gives those who wish to send them a greeting without any identity problems. No need for any ages to be shown. It's the celebration that counts - not the age.

Your Darn right! I'm 18 and not turning a day older alright!

Guess you know Oh Vaulted Ruler that the year should be optional, but it doesn't make a difference to me cause I'm going to be 18 every year...sorry I"m a toys r us kid!

Sensitive you say! No dementedly dishonest here! Hey I was honest about the age thing for what 4 months...now I'm having fun with it...

I agree with RavenWing.
Seriously, I don't care if you guys know my age (soon to be 42) and I agree with Scottish 2 that posting an age allows us to know each pther better. (Sister A, you as always, are the exception) But I worry as well about identity theft. I'd like to be trusting of all, but unfortunately that isn't the care of some. Then again, if you keep your credit cards maxed out, how much can anyone steal? laugh.gif

Posted by: Elspeth 10-Nov-2003, 07:11 AM
See what happens when you don't proofread?

That's other not pther and case not care.

But, according to the amazing mind thread, you all could read this anyway. biggrin.gif

Hmmm might make for an intersting thread......

Folks should have a bit off a fuss that day !!

See my brother really knows me! I'll always be 18. I had a client who hollered across the salon the other day and said: Annabelle when are you ever going to grow up?
I looked up at her and said "Are you talken to me?"

It's always a lift when everyone knows its your birthday and you are bubbly for the day. ofcourse having a setting in the personal settings that would allow those who don't care for it would be appropriate if birthdays were shown.

Posted by: emerald-eyedwanderer 28-Apr-2004, 02:23 PM
I think it's a cool idea. I have no problems thumbs_up.gif .

Great reasons folks but age should not matter as long as you keep fit you will be able to do what your body is capable of ther have been people in thier 70's and higher swim the channel sky dive you heard right sky dive and all kinds of stuff. If you think old you will be old, I'm 45 and I can work the young ones to death they have no idea of work only want the money. cool.gif

I think it is a great idea to post birthdays on the front page. It lets us all know who has a special day that day. That is important to people, especially when you consider we all get to know each other pretty well on here and we would like to know when their special day is.............as long as their year is not posted. However, I don't have a problem with anybody knowing my age. I may be vain, but not that much! However, I do have a concern about identity theft. unsure.gif

Posted by: Rindy1202 06-Nov-2004, 09:37 AM
Well I think the Birthday should stay but take off the age. As you see I put I was born in 1905 which would make me 99. If you left the ages off I am immortal. laugh.gif

Posted by: Gordon 06-Nov-2004, 04:36 PM
Seems like a cool idea to me and I don't mind my age showing, it'll help me remember my anniversary as well maybe. Besides, age is just a cronological number that we use. I know I for one don't feel my age or even act anywhere close to it 99.99999% of the time or so the wifey tells me. laugh.gif
