What's in a name? That which we call a rose / By any other name would smell as sweet. William Shakespeare "Romeo and Juliet"
MacE! When I first came on here, I went by a different name too! I changed it to CelticRose because of my name being Rosemary and it being a Celtic site! People seemed to adjust just fine, although I had a couple of people tell me they liked my former name better! Oh well, can't please everybody! LOL
And just to repeat: A "Rose" by any other name (flower or person) will always smell as(or in your case, C-Rose, "be") sweet.
Fear-leanmhainn an Rìgh (if we can trust the "Wiz's" Scot-Gaelic translation ) means: Follower of the King (or probably more literally, the man who follows the King). The King in this case would be Jesus.

Someone wanted to know how I came up with the name wizardofowls in the first place. Well, its a long story...
Back in the old days I used to love reading fantasy novels and playing AD&D. These pursuits consumed me. Quite literally, every waking hour of every day was spent passionately working on an imaginary world I was creating for role-playing, or reading fantasy books, or playing AD&D with my circle of friends. I even carried a note pad around with me at work in case I was inspired with some new detail for my world!
I also used to love fantasy art. One of my favorite pieces was a painting of a wizard in white (I think??) robes on a gray (I think??) horse. (Or maybe its the other way around... Can't remember for sure...) He is surrounded by a flock of owls. The painting is beautiful and done in pastel shades of pinks and blues. The name of the painting? "The Wizard of the Owls." (Can't remember the artist's name for sure... Janni Wurtz, maybe?? Anyway, I think it was used as the cover of some fantasy book centered around the King Arthur legends... "This Way to Avalon," maybe? Or "This Way to Camelot?" Its something like that...)
When I first got my computer 6 years ago, I tried and tried to find an e-mail box name that I liked that hadn't already been taken. I couldn't find anything. Finally, out of desperation, I typed in the name wizardofowls, and surprise, surprise, it was accepted! I have a terrible memory, and trying to remember what sign-in name I used on different web groups is beyond me, so out of habit I always use wizardofowls. So now, not only do I have 2 e-mail boxes in that name, but I have also subscribed to 14 Yahoo Gaelic groups, 1 MSN Gaelic group, 2 Gaelic e-mail lists, a Gaelic forum, and this group, all under the name wizardofowls.
2 and a half years ago when I gave my heart to Christ, I felt impressed to give up all attachments having anything to do with magic and fantasy. (I was heavily invovled in this stuff. I even once considered converting to Wicca, but decided against it.) I felt that as long I was still involved with this stuff it would interfere with my walk with God. The Bible says no man can serve two masters, and as long as I was throwing all of my time into this stuff, I couldn't serve God the way I should. So over the past few years I have been gradually trying to sever all ties with fantasy so that I can serve God as I feel I should. The name wizardofowls is one of the last holdouts from that time, and the change that I have been dreading the most since getting rid of it will basically require me to start from scratch with a whole new on-line persona... new e-mail boxes, quitting and rejoining so many groups... MAJOR PAIN IN THE RUMP! So I thought that if I started here it would at least be a first step down that long, complex road...
Now, though, I'm totally confused and not sure what to do... Thanks for all of your input... I guess I'll just leave it the wiz for now, but don't be surprised if - at some point in the future - you see a new name above my old avatar...

Allen! What is all boils down to is what is between you and God! You, alone, without us, has to make the decision! We will adjust if you decide to change.
Okay, in my previous post, I talked about the painting from which I took my sign-on name. Well, it is titled "Wizard of the Owls" (Not THE Wizard of the Owls). It is by Janny Wurts (misspelled her name in the previous post) and it was used as the cover of the book "That Way Lies Camelot." I am going to try to attach a copy of the painting below.
Peckery, you're very disrespectful! (Not that she was surprised...*grinning*)

Allen! I love the painting! It is so beautiful and so appropriate for a Celtic site! But then I love owls.........have done several portraits of them.............and I love all things from the Arthurian time.
