Sorry Harlot, David Tennant has announced his decision to quit Doctor Who at the end of 2009.
The actor confirmed the news while collecting the award for 'Outstanding Drama Performance' at the National Television Awards.
"In January I go back to make four new specials which take Doctor Who through to the end of 2009," he said. "But when Doctor Who returns in 2010, it won't be with me. The 2009 shows will be my last playing the Doctor."
Tennant added: "If I don't take a deep breath now and move on, I never will. I think it's best I don't outstay my welcome."
The real question is-Is David Morrissey (the one in the clip) really the next to play the doctor or is it just a time/paraellel universe thing? The fourth season will bring back Rose and Davros.
I'm sorry to hear that.I have been watching the show with him playing the part and I can't see anyone else doing it. How would they have him exit and have someone else play The Doctor, isn't there only one Time Lord?
It looks like it's going to be another awesome season.
As far as how they will replace him in the series....he will have to be killed some how and the Tardis will help him come back to life with some changes....at least that is the way it's suppose to happen.
These are two characters from a certain Japanese anime that I like, dressed up as the Doctor and his assistant. Somebody got a good link to a YouTube short that could serve as a good warmup for somebody's who's new to it?

LP Vinyl Enthusiast - It really needs to be in LP vinyl format for me to most certainly get it. ^^

I don't think there is a Coles Notes to Doctor Who. I mean, its been on and off BBC since the sixities. We are at Dr. #10 and only three to go as TimeLords have 13 regenerations I believe. By now, the Christmas 08 special will have aired in the UK but I don't think its David Morrisey pegged as the new Doctor(who will appear sometime 2010) but I believe Paterson Joesph is being given hot odds. A very interesting looking actor and rather handsome to boot....will make a fine Time Lord

Hard to find a good history of The Doctor out of you tube. Doctor Who in a nutshell is this. The Doctor is a timlord from the planet Gallifrey. Getting fed up with thr rules and culture of his planet he travels to earth in his Tardis (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) which is able to travel across space and time. Each timelord has 13 regenerations or new lives when their current body is damaged to the point of death alhough the Master (One of the bad timelords) has gone past that. Traveling through space and time the Doctor and his companions save the universe form such deadly villians as the Davros and his Daleks, the Cybermen (think the borg), Sontarans, and other evil timelords.
The show started in 1963. The first episode was delayed due to JFK death on the very night it was to appear. Two of the episodes were actually made into full length movies staring Peter Cushing. When an actor choses to quit or leave the show for other reasons then the doctor is killed off, regenerated, and a new actor takes over the role. David Tennant is the currnet and 10th doctor. The series was also off the air for about 10-15? years due to lack of intrest on the BBc's part. Fox had the rights for a bit and did a TV movie (8th doctor) and then the BBC started up the series again a few years ago starting with the 9th Doctor. It was during this off air period that the great time war between the timelords and the Daleks took place and the Doctor's home planet of Gallifrey and all other timelords were destroyed. The whole thing was suppose to have been timelocked but of course there are always escapees on both sides.
Sorry. Didn't meant to post that video twice. Meant to post one of all 10 doctors. here you go. The guy with a gotee is not the doctor but the evil timelord called the Master.
One fact that I forgot to add. The tardis is suppose to have a camouflage device so it fits in to the enviroment were ever it lands. This device had somehow broken on the doctor's Tardis and he never has gotten around to getting it fixed. It has been stuck on being a police box since the series began.
Great posts Robert and not to worry, it gets a bit garbbled sometimes with the timelines and all . ps. did you like the 08 special-I thought it the best so far
I loved it. Especially the giant steampunk cyberman. Been watching since the 1980's and I have most of the episodes still on VHS. I'm hoping they put all the old episodes on DVD by season instead of by episodes. Of course they are going to have to lower the price too. I can't see spending $90 for one season of any show.
I know, the cost of them is the killer. The older individual eppies, well you can find those on Ebay or Amazon, the current series, holy cow, I don't get it, why so bloody much!! It all adds up. Hopefully you are able to convert some of those VHS into DVD. Maybe check out with a local computer techer to see about it-may or maynot be cost effective. Cheers
I think that I'll wait untill it all hits blue ray. Hopefully they will be lower in price by then. Maybe they will have the old doctors in individual season sets rather than by episode.
Matt Smith has been cast in the role of the Doctor in the iconic BBC series Doctor Who. Smith will be the 11th Time Lord and will take over from David Tennant who leaves at the end of 2009. He will be seen in the forthcoming fifth series that will be broadcast in 2010. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zog-6SrGxE0...feature=related
On a personal note he kind of reminds me of a young David Bowie
