The Clan Maclaurin, more nowdays spelled MacLauren and in Gaelic called Clan Labhrin, That name being derived from the Gaelic name for the district of Lorn In Argyll.
As a result, the MacLaren bear the word 'Dalriada' the old name for Argyll above our coat of arms.
"Creag an Turic" is the Clan's battle cry meaning in English " The Boars Rock"
The MacLarens migrated from Ireland in 503 to Argyll and eventually stretched from Tiree into the Central Highlands.
The MacLarens were a warrior clan and later History describes their being in several memorable battles such as Bannockburn, Sauchieburn,Flodden, they fought for the Marquis of Montrose at Inverlochy,Auldearn,Alford,Kilsyth. They also were at the forefront of the famous Highland charge that won the battle of Killiecrankie and paid with their live as many Highlanders for the Stuart Cause.
Much of this history is well known to many in Scotland, I learned most of it recently with the knowledge that I have a Scots hertitage.
If any of you have any information on the MacLarens, I would enjoy very much reading about it.
