QUOTE (Annabelle @ Dec 8 2003, 07:41 PM)
Now that I've been a good girl, can we go back to the bar?

Annabelle

Alas, not me. I am reserved and proper. Remember?
You go slide on the bar and I'll sit quietly in the corner telling jokes, OK?
Just send a gin and tonic my way every once and a while. Heavy on the lime.

I know that by GGrandma Elisabeth always used to be called "Elsbeth" (the th sound is replaced by a solid t)..

There somewhere was another threat where nicks were explained.. I thought this was the one... but for all new ppl that don't know it yet:

both words are Scots Gaelic
Aon = Only
Daonna = Human

Elspeth after last night you have been cut off girl and your dog on limes! You couldn't type worth a plug nickle..we thought at first you were typing in that form where the human mind can still raed and unedrstnad what we typed. But then we realized you need a designated driver on the keyboard...Now if we do that together it's alright...and if I let you sit in the corner you'd start telling jokes about Aliens and ears or something like that...ha ha

Well my nickname is partly my first name---Roisin (pronounced "Ro-Sheen") which means "Rose" or "Little Rose" in Irish Gaelic. Teagan means "Poet" in Irish Gaelic hence "Roisin-Teagan"---"Rose-Poet". I chose Teagan because I am a poet. I know this is not very mysterious nor does it really have a story behind it, but I like my nickname. angel_not.gif

I think that is neat. thumbs_up.gif When I first started this site I had not the first word in Gaelic. But since I have been here I have been picking one up every now and then. This just adds an couple more.

Thank you again. wink.gif

With a name like Eugene (eugeneics=the study of genes and traits passed through the generations)I tend to avoid using that as often as possible, the only reason I got the name was because my father Gary Eugene and my mother Pamela Jean couldnt agree on anything. With a last name like Ruschenberg pronounced roo shin berg, nobody else liked saying that one as a child my friends called me everything from "encyclopedia" to "suicide" (i was kind of somber) but in the army they statrted calling me "bird" instead of berg and add a dog you then get "birddog", then as the night got shorter and the bottles got drank I ended up "an illustrated book about birds" but i don't raise hell anymore so really i'm just Gene.

Wow! I'm impressed by the posts and sources of your nicknames here! Mine is what my mom called me when I was little and she was teasing me. I miss my mom. Of course I was also known as Janeybird, Jellyjam, and a few unsavory names. But, JaneyMae is what came to mind first.

I need to pick one that has more to do with my heritage as many of you did.

Everybody knows you as Janeymae, now. You are just trying to confuse us poor male types. dontgetit.gif

My story is simple and unconfusing - that's just because I love J.Joyce, his witticism and criticism and... andthe twisted, outsider character of young poet, Stephen Dedalus. i think he resembles all we do in life - searching fo r sense and acting while being watched by others. Just plain theatre of life 0<| 8 )= (and that's new Smilie for Santa smile.gif )
