I heard this on the radio and of course, now I can't remember what the acronym stands for. smile.gif Middle-age short-term memory loss. Results only work environment?

ANYWAY, Corporate Best Buy has put this into practice. They've thrown out the established boundaries of a work day. Instead, employees are free to come and go at their convenience as long as their work is done. Time put in does not necessarily directly correlate to productivity. They call it TVo for the workplace.

So far their results have been promising. So promising they plan on taking it to their stores as well.

Think of it. Completely taking away the established time boundaries of the workday. And just who decided “the workday” shall be eight hours – 8-5?

What a concept!!!

How interesting! I would be interested in seeing how the long term results stack up with the "traditional" workday.

But how long wil it be before corporations start saying - you can get your work done in only 4 hours? Obviously we're not giving you enough to do!

It is a good concept, however, I see the downside to this as well. I wouldn't want to use it in a corporate setting because even if the people are finished with their work, what if someone needs questions answered? An emergency arises?
Being a business major, I know the key to a succesful business starts with communication. How can you communicate with another if they are not there? I would like to see a study down on the relationship between productivity and time. I also would like to see the comparison between the traditional work day and this new concept. I think the results would be interesting. Not necessarily now, but on down the line when this concept has been in use for awhile.
