Hello everybody! I just got out of the hospital after having been in there all day long!
Remember I told you that my doctor put me on Welbutrin for my depression? Well, I have to mail order my perscriptions in 3 month supplies (its an insurance thing and a real pain in the neck). Well I mailed in my perscriptions almost 2 weeks ago. And they never arrived! I've been without medicine for about 3 days. Apparently the sudden stop from the Welbutrin caused me to have a seizure around 7:00 am yesterday morning! Scared my poor wife to death!
Well, I'm home now. I was in the hospital all day yesterday, but I'm glad to be home!
Take care and God bless you all!

Oh Wiz that's terrible... glad to hear you're gonna be okay though. I'd be sending the hospital bill to the pharmacy....just for putting you through all that. If nothing else but a real nasty phone call to them giving them an earfull and to have them bump up that shipment to express delivery on their dime.

I feel for you. I take effexor for depression, and last October I ended up going to Urgent care which sent me to the emergency room when a virus caused me to go into dehydration and spiked my BP. My parents came and took me to their home to monitor me, but of course I left my meds at my house, 30 miles away. Guess i'm lucky the withdrawal from Effexor only causes massive headache and optical disturbances.....
Take care, and i'd send your hospital bill to the pharmacy as well!!
Hey Wizard, how are you doing? Hope you are doing better by now.
It's never nice when you are needing meds and somebody doesn't do their job right and patients have to end up in the ER. That would have been costs they easily could have been avoided. I would also try and get the pharmacy to pay for the bill. It was after all their fault they didn't send the meds out.
Allen, very glad you're OK and back home. Give the pharmacy a call to make sure they got your order and check the status of the shipment. Then call your insurance company and tell them what happened and ask them to get on the pharmacy's case (after all, it costs them money to pay for this). Hope the hospital gave you enough to tide you over till your supply arrives. Just remember, we Mackays are to stubborn (stupid?) to stay down; we get back up and keep plugging away. We"re all here for you guy.
I am so glad your ok. How scary. I use mail perscription and it is a pain.. Does save on the bucks though..I hope you can get them to pay the hospital bill. :et us know how things are going.
Dearest Wizard, I'm very glad you're home again, and alright! Give your wife an extra hug from all of us, too. What an ordeal. I agree with Bill -- call your insurance company right away and let them know what happened. They should definitely follow through with the pharmacy for you! This wasn't your fault.
Take care of yourself. We're all with you!

You poor kid. And how scary for the family, too! Yeah, that whole deal of ramping up and ramping down dosages gradually, that every good doctor wants to do, until the old elephant with Alzheimer's kicks in (mismanaged care). Sickening story. Now that you know you have to ramp down and not cut right out, you know not to let it happen again. I imagine if you had called your doctor straight away he could have finagled you a few doses to tide you over. . .
well -- here's hoping the adjustment period goes less rocky from here on out!

Thanks for the well-wishes and prayers everyone. The doctor has decided that since I had this reaction to the medicine, he is going to completely pull me off the Welbutrin and try me on Zoloft instead. I hope it helps!

I also take effexor, and yeah, the headaches and auras are a pain when you forget, or don't take it on time. As for Zoloft...eek! A friend of mine was on it and didn't like it cause she had to take sleeping pills as well in order to sleep. Apparently, it perks you up so much that you can't settle down for bed. However, everyone has different reactions to medicines. I hope it works well for you. It's hard to find something that works well without some pain in the butt side effects. Good luck!
