St. Pat's At The Mucky Duck

So another St. Pat's has come and gone, and we had a great time at the Mucky Duck down in Houston. Headline bands were The Rogues, The Remnants (including EJ Jones, Emily Dugas and Gregory McQueen, all late of Clandestine), and Poor Man's Fortune. The evening was warm (St. Pat's should *always* be on a Friday!) and the crowd was large and enthusiastic. And I managed to *not* spill mead on my camera, so go me!

I've got pictures from the North Texas Irish Festival (first weekend in March), the University of Chicago Folk Festival (mid-February, yes, I went to Chicago in February on purpose!), a MacHenry's-Mucky Duck Endurance Run weekend (mid-January) and the Dickens on the Strand festival (early December) all in the queue.

i knew a band years ago that worked the ren festivals...bristol is where met them...
it was a trio 2 women and 1 guy.
one of the singers names was mary something... i was wondering if they were in anyway related to the the clandestine you spoke of...

when i hear the song cannonball it reminds me muchly of the trio i remember.

I don't think so, but couldn't say for sure. Clandestine was a Celtic band out of Houston; they were a four piece -- EJ Jones on pipes and flute, Gregory McQueen on fiddle, Emily Dugas on percussion and vocals, and Jen Hamill on guitar and vocals. They never really played the renfaires; they were more in the way of Celtic festivals and Highland Games and bars. They also played Lillith Fair, and the Kennedy Center, and the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany. They toured for about 8 years before they split up.

Nope, it's in Houston, the Mucky Duck Pub.

The Rogues played the U. of Chicago's Folk Festival last month, though, and OMG, we had such a good, good time! (I'm not in the band; I'm just their nudz friend. *g*) It was the most fun we've had in ages; I can't wait to go back.
