It's amazing how much a person can mature just by getting out of college. It seems that I went from punk to gramps the day I turned 20.

I have always loved the Waltons especially Grandpa Walton, he was always so cool. When I was in school the other students use to call me John Boy, because I look like him at the time.
The "Homecoming" was good, but I have always been a fan of the "Christmas Carol". All variations of it including "Scrooged" with Bill Murry.
My mom used to call me that.... because when we'd go out to my grandparents farm, after the work was done, I would go to the top of the ridge and sit, enjoy nature and write stuff... The show had long been over when I woould do that, but I guess it stuck...
And yes I agree GP Walton was the COOLEST! That was a whole complete man. I hope I am at least half that type of old man when I grow old...

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
Favorite Special - Rudolph. This was the FIRST thing that was taped when we first got a vcr in, I believe, 1984. Snoopy ranks right up there as well.
I have dozens of Chrstmas movies on tape, but the two that have special significance are A Christmas Carol, but has to be the right adaptation and Christmas in Connecticut - Barbara Stanwick version. Always wrapped presents to that movie. Got some great lines in it.
Music!! Being from a musical family, this was incredibly important. She played, we sang, we caroled. Corney, but great memories. My mother bought the Goodyear and Firestone albums every year. Anyone else remember those? They had songs from all the greats of the times. Bing, Frank, Andy Williams, Robert Shaw, Julie Andrews, etc. and etc. One of my favorites is 'What are you doing New year's Eve by dang, can't rememeber her name. Also, the Glen Campbell album. Music fitting the Waltons. Listening to it now. And a real old one, the Ames Brothers. Those are family favorites. Newer ones include John Denver and the Muppets. Fun and some really great music as well.
Ok, I'll shut up now, if not will go on forever........
Jason, I think of Waltons mountain as my Mayberry too. Only used Mayberry because the detective did. My favorite Walton's episode was always the one with Jenny. You?
