Speaking of musical groups....I take it that everyone is familiar with Secret Garden. It is a Eurpean group consisting of a Norwegian fellow named Rolf Lovland and an Irish lady named Fionnuala Sherry who grew up in County Kildare.

Their music is beautiful.

Ah!!! THIS is truly home!!!!! Talk of fishing, the green hills of Ireland and the pipes of Scotland.

I too love fishing. Started fishing as a boy in Upstate New York in the Mohawk Valley. Black bass, Bullhead, Smallmouth bass, Northern Pike, Walleyes, Yellow Perch, Rock Bass, 5 different varities of Trout, etc.

I caught a Great Northern Pike that was 27" long when I was 10. They call that one the fish of a thousand casts.

Here in Utah, we have the Rockies to fish in. Blue Ribbon Trout streams and Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell. I caught my second Northern Pike in Lake Powell 1990 (30" long, 8 lbs.).....small by Canadian standards.

We have Cutthroat Trout out here which are a tasty treat.

Thank you for all of your warm greetings.

You are right......I have finally found HOME.

Hello,

I am new to this site. If this topic has already been throughly discussed, then please ignore this post.

I am an amatuer student of history. I have read that Dublin was founded by Norsemen as a trading post. It has occured to me that the Irish/Scottish population and the scandanavian people could have mixed at this point.

Those of us who have Nordic ancestry and Irish ancestry might be sharing the same ancestors if we were to go back some generations to that point.

Would anyone care to comment on this?

Thanks.

By the way, I just found the McCormick coat of arms (see my avatar). The words below the shield say "Sine Timore". Does that translate into "Without Fear"?

Thanks.

Hello to Everyone,

This is a wonderful site. I live in Utah Vally north of Sanpete County.

Have been doing genealogy lately and have come across both Scot (Moore) and Irish (McCormick) ancestors. John McCormick was my granfather and his mother was a McGettigan.

Guess that might help to explain why my heart has always leaped with excitement when I've heard the pipes from either Ireland or Scotland. I'm told that you either love the pipes or hate the sound of them.

Well enough of my ramblings.

Glad to have found this place. I look forward to learning more about this part of my heritage.
