"Best"... that's a very broad and not very specific criteria. It's also very subjective, and you're not likely to find many people who agree on the same answer.
"Celtic" is also applied to a very wide variety of music; it's hardly realistic to compare a fiddler accompanied by bodhran to a celtic punk act.
I'm not really sure what you're asking here.

How's Lnux for database? Kind of heavy in Access.

AFAIK Access is a Database Manager, not a Database itself. According to Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_access ) it will work with MySQL and PostgreSQL, both of which are available free for both Windows and Linux. OpenOffice.org "Base" is the equivalent to Access, and is also a DB manager.
The better questions are: what Database engine are you using now? Is it available for both *Nix and Windows? If no, can the data be exported then imported into an OS-independant engine? (ex: output from MSSql then input to either PostgreSQL or MySQL is fairly easy)

Also, lot of pic files.

Depends on what you're doing with them. Are you viewing, or manipulating them? How intensive manipulations/editing do you need to do? Photoshop is overkill for >90% of people using it, GIMP will suffice in most cases. (this is what Taliesin said above, but he didn't say it outright) Heck, even a program like XNView ( http://xnview.com/ ) does most basic editing and viewing tasks.

Good list so far, not a lot to add except a few notable songs.
Seven Nations, IMO, was moving that way especially on "Thanks for Waiting"
Some Enter The Haggis, notably "Litter and the Leaves" from "Gutter Anthems" has definite punk undercurrents.

I have to clarify that I wouldn't classify either group as being Celtic Punk per se. Just listing a few individual songs that may fit into that genre.

For defense, Guard Towers are the best IMO.
If for no other reason than only you will ever know how many you have. smile.gif
As for offense, it depends on your goal.
Do you want to destroy the enemy's army, or destroy their infrastructure?
Cavaliers for destroying armies, battering rams for destroying infrastructure.

Well, you said *except for* siege engines, so I guess that leaves the rams out.

That having been said, building an army made of only 1 type of unit would be a sure way to fail. You need to be well-rounded; each unit has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Olorin, you're correct. It is/was in bad form for me not to participate as I said I would in that e-mail. However, plans change and I found myself with less than sufficient time to manage a war. Figuring I'd need about 8 hours (it can reasonably be expected to be resolved in that time period) at the computer, I haven't had that yet. Much like LoA using HM when only having a few minutes each day to play, I find myself in a similar situation (but for different reasons).
Harlot- last visit to the forum does not always mean last visit to the game.
stevenpd- you were the one who informed me of the bug where a player continues to accumulate resources while in HM, so don't even try to pretend it's a newly discovered bug or previously unknown to you

Oh, and for those of you who are curious- I find myself with a few minutes to post today, but not with 8 hours... so feel free to check, but yes I'm still in HM.

I had just over 400,000 wood and entered an order at the market for 300,000 wood at 1 gold apiece.
Someone placed 117,000 wood in the market, which was auto-purchased by me, now my total wood is 287,000
It seems to have subtracted my resources instead of adding to them.

Whenever I've bought before, it was for goods already available and everything worked fine; this was the only time I placed an order for something not yet available... should give you an idea of what routines to look for the bug in smile.gif

QUOTE
The whole meaning for this was to show Lord Gandolf3339 who seemed to continue whining on this, that is was not only the MacInnes.

LoA, you're missing the entire point of all this: apparently it was only the MacInnes who participated in that war.

QUOTE
You all seem to think for some reason that I "implied" that you have attacked clan EIO...I have never mentioned this.

In my previous post, I quoted you three times where you said the people on that list were involved in the attack.
I see no point in doing it again.

QUOTE
for you are "analyzing" every little word and then fixing it in a way to discredit another and credit yourself just by the way you are "dissecting" everything in your post...

Analyzing? You were very clear, it was simply stated "I know that you think that only MacInnes was involved but here is the targets list to the other clan members that were involved in this war against EIO."
There's no need to analyze anything, you stated it as a fact that the people on that list were involved- when we were not. In subsequent posts, you still maintained that we were involved.

Why are you directing all this at me? Both Shenaniganz and Olorin have said the same as myself: that you made an incorrect assumption that we attacked our "assigned targets" in that war.

QUOTE
but you don't even take the time to acknowledge when a member sends her apologies to you

That apology you made, in my opinion, was empty. It came less than three hours after, in another thread, you referred to "predatory behavior" and "sharks." Rather than starting another argument- which seems to have happened here anyway- I was letting the matter drop.
I would be perfectly happy if we didn't need to have these flame wars every few weeks; however when someone is spreading falsehoods about me I will respond.

QUOTE
No offense sir but say whatever you like I don't really care what you may think of me anyways..

Why did this come up? Where did I ever say anything about what I may or may not think of you? Could we please stick to the topic at hand instead of occluding it with a smokescreen?

QUOTE
Thank you for calling me a liar

I did no such thing; the definition of a liar is one who spreads lies. Lies are defined as intentional falsehoods. I never said you did this intentionally.
( http://www.thefreedictionary.com/liar and http://www.thefreedictionary.com/lie )
All I asked in the very beginning was that you verify facts before telling tales. Period. I never said that you intentionally misled anyone or intentionally mis-stated facts. Until this paragraph, I did not use the word "lie" or "liar" either. Even now, it's being used to clarify the definition of the word since you say your English is not very good; a reference to a dictionary should help clarify any possible misunderstandings.
The key is intent; if you knew we didn't participate in the attacks yet were trying to mislead people into thinking we did, then you lied. If you yourself thought we participated, then you had no intent to mislead but did it because- as I stated previously- you failed to verify facts first.
In your original post, I think you made an honest mistake by assuming we participated when we didn't. However, if you continue to incorrectly label us (to clarify, in this case "us" means Olorin, Shenaniganz and myself) as participants in the EIO-MacInnes war, then yes- at that point I will call you a liar.

QUOTE
it has been a mistake from my part for it seems that have all taken it as personal attack against you and the alliance with the MacInnes clan.

LoA, once again you're confusing other people with yourself. You are the one who said that we weren't acting like allies and you made the veiled threats about our alliance, not the others here. I also have to point out that you're the one who keeps calling this a personal attack.
To me, it was a simple matter of attempting to correct what I perceived to be an incorrect assumption on your part.
Why did this have to get blown up into this huge debate?

You keep saying I over-analyze posts, however IMO you're reading way too much into them. I'm not getting personal here, nor am I interpreting what you say as a personal attack- yet you seem to think I am. I haven't called you a liar, yet you're saying I have.

Do me a favor, in the future when you read my posts don't assume there's meanings other than what I stated. What I say is pretty much exactly what I mean.
Very few people are gifted with the ability to carry tone and inflection over in text; it's not easy to see when someone is joking or being sarcastic- so it's best to just plainly state whatever it is you're trying to say.

LoA,
QUOTE
Getting personal again I see Subhuman...

All I requested is that you get facts straight before spreading misinformation. It's a fairly simple request for most people, however you seem to have difficulty with it.

QUOTE
I posted the targets list on this thread for the sole purpose to have Lord Gandolf3339 know that is was not only the MacInnes that were involved in this war.

Ok, again- those lists were of people who were requested to join in the attacks; so far everyone on that list has said they did not participate.
Now you've stated again that we were involved.

QUOTE
In my post sir I do not insinuate anything about you...like I said and repeat or maybe you can't read properly my post ... it was only the target list to show to lord Gandolf3339 that it was not only MacInnes involved.

AGAIN, I was not involved in this war. Apparently others on that lists also were not involved in this war as well.

Allow me to refer to the original post:
QUOTE
subhuman of TheRedeemed 55,327 1:3:4 Clan UDB 27,664 2 gandolf3339 42508 2:1:5
***********************************************************

My Lord gandolf3339,

I know that you think that only MacInnes was involved but here is the targets list to the other clan members that were involved in this war against EIO.

In this, you clearly state that I (and others) were involved in this war. If you meant to present it as a list of potential targets, then you should have presented it that way instead of incorrectly stating that myself (and others) were involved.

QUOTE
Can't you read properly when one posts...in my posts I never mentioned that any of you attacked anyone...it's a list for godsake????

Umm, yes you did... several times in fact. Several of them were quoted above.

QUOTE
I know that you Lord Subhuman enjoys very much playing with words and all but instead of taking everything we say personally start by reading properly the posts and instead of analyzing this and that you should try and analyze the meaning of the words one writes.

You apparently have me confused with yourself. You keep stating one thing, then claiming you meant something else.
Maybe there's some confusion with the meaning of "involved in the war." When I see that phrase, it means that the party in question participated in one or more battles. Apparently you think it means something else entirely, in this case "received a message."

QUOTE
I'm beginning to think that you are one of those "crybabies" my lord...for you seemed to always take my posts to a certain personal level.

If a person repeatedly kept spreading false information about you, wouldn't you eventually get offended by it as well?

QUOTE
And again...why in hellfire are you saying that I make assumptions when all I did was post a target list that was posted to each and everyone of you...

Your assumption is that we participated in those attacks. Shenaniganz said the same in his post "Again it is all in assumption that these attacks were made" are his exact words.

QUOTE
Also, both Lord Subhuman and Lord Shenaniganz states that you were "requested" when our Laird never "requested" anything from you he said that we were to attack and since we are allied he told you that you could join.

Did you see the message he sent me? It most definitely was a request, not an invitation. It told me who to attack, when to attack them, and how to allocate my forces between my armies. That is a lot more than a simple "feel free to join in" invitation you imply I received. Here's an excerpt from that message:
"On Saturday, December 6, 2008 and the early hours of Sunday, December 8, 2008, a day that will live in infamy, launch against your assigned target at will." With how that's worded, it's either an order to attack or a request to do so- not an invitation to join in.
So now we've found another false assumption on your part; the assumption that were were invited to join in instead of requested to do so. smile.gif

QUOTE
Now you are all here on my back just because that Lord could not even take the heat and I'm trying to show him that it was not only the MacInnes in this...and try to discredit me as if I spread falsehood...hmmm! Interesting coming from allies...very interesting indeed.

The problem here is that you are spreading falsehoods. Olorin, Shananiganz and myself were all listed by you as being involved in the EIO-MacInnes war when we weren't.

LoA, just because somebody requested that I attack someone does not mean it occurred.
There's is quite a big difference between requesting something, and actually receiving it.

For the record, I was unable to attack any members of EIO- the game kept telling me they were not worth my time.

So yes, it was requested that I attack. Yes, I would have attacked had I been allowed to.

No, there was not any actual attack.

In the future, I would prefer if you get your facts straight before spreading more misinformation about me.

Have you verified if any of the members of Clan Bruce you listed actually participated in these attacks, or are you making assumptions about them as well?

That's only TCS' third army, folks... this is why I said before he's potentially the biggest military threat here. smile.gif
But yeah, TCS was ranked right behind me previously, and now he's slipped down the ranking ladder.

I, too, seem to have lost my third general. Lucky for me, I had no forces in that third army... but a general is gone. He only had a 5% or 10% attack bonus, so it's not a huge deal.
Compared to what others have lost, I have no reason to complain.

About two beers. smile.gif That picture was taken at this past year's Celtic Classic, and we were subjected to light precipitation. I'm not sure whether it was a "tangible fog" or a "very light drizzle" (or maybe just "appropriate weather" for a Celtic fest) but after a short period outdoors you ended up slightly moist. I think it's just a bit of moisture coupled with the camera's flash.

Anyway, I should give a little commentary on their music I suppose. I always feel bad about reviewing/promoting groups because in a genre like this where many groups perform the same songs it's almost as if you're slighting other bands when you say positive things about another band.
But here goes...
I've heard more versions of 'Fields of Athenry' than I can count, but I think these guys are my favorite. That's not to say anyone else does it poorly, just that someone has to get first place in my personal opinion poll- and these guys are it.
Beyond that, their set usually doesn't consist of very many traditional Celtic tunes but it doesn't really matter. Even their original tunes have a sense of familiarity to them. The occasional Gypsy fiddle tunes add a twist of something "different" to the set, and in this case different is definitely good!
There's no lack of energy here either; if you're sitting on your ass during their show you're probably a paraplegic or suffering from some other grievous injuries.
I would highly recommend seeing them live; their studio work, while good, lacks the same energy.
Live performances get "two mugs up"; studio albums get 1 1/2
