Hi Everyone

I've been in a world of apples, Calvados and "Corps des Fermes", thats right, two months in Normandy helping a friend restore an old house he bought recently.

I so fell in love with the region, that I'm bidding to buy a place there myself. I found an old farm building in 3000m2 of land, and am now up to my ears in Septic Tank planning! I'm spending two or three days a week in Normandy trying to sort things out, and when the sale eventually goes through I will be camping out in the least decrepid part of the house whilst working on the rest of it.

I see it as a five year project to complete but I'm going to work on it a section at a time.

(PS it is technically Normandy but so close to Brittany I don't think I'm betraying my celtic birthright)

I'll keep you updated.

(PS Big Bissous to Catriona)

Nodded off? Whoyakiddin?!

WG - so glad to see that you are still in the land of the living!

Sounds exciting - we have been looking into buying a small property somewhere in France. My husband favours the south - I'd quite like to buy in the Basque country (Spanish side!)... at least the weather is reliable!

I love Boulogne and coast from Calais to B'logne..... Those beaches are just amazing. We used to go on holiday to a small place near Quimper when our family was young.... Happy, happy days - too much good food, too much drink... and always, always, brought back a case of Calvados..... France in a glass!!!

Hi Hen

While I've been away, someone has turned the bar into a "Lock-in" wassup?

Would you care to explain what a White Sox is? And where it is intended that it goes?

White Sox is a baseball team, and where it goes depends on whether it is winning or not!

Ah, welcome back Pal!
Great to see you're back! *jumps*

I'm certainly going to move to either normandy or "La Bretagne" someday, because that IS the landof my ancestors and I love it. My family are the Nozaic's of Morbihan, and I guess I'll try to move there one day, but up till now I'm very happy up here in Scotland, (yes, moved here and now I do a college course in Antique Furniture Restoration).

My GGrandma used to make a calvados.. mmhh. We opened up the last bottle of her calvados 2 years ago... sad.gif

But, hey man, good to see ye back!
