I was just wondering how often you run your virus and spy/adware protection software.
Computer experts recommendd that you do it at least once a week.
Since I know that Microsoft's system security is only slightly better at protecting computers than a note from my mom, I run 'em daily. Sometimes more than once a day.

So than I'm thinking it's bad that I run all my protections once a Month? I believe my mother wouldn't mind if the computer suddenly exploded...I would be the one dying without it!

I'll vote "I don't need no stinkin' software like that", because any that is made for my platform of choice is to protect less fortunate systems that might access the Inet through it. That said, that software doesn't tend to run on my systems to begin with (although people have been trying to tun virii on Linux via Wine, and failing when deliberately trying to infect their machines).
In light of that, it could be said that running Linux is my anti-virus/anti-evilware software, and I run it 24x7.
However you want to phrase it. I also have a 1 Ghz firewall+NAT going too.

I not only run it daily but sometimes more if I notice my machine running slower ( spyware can do that you know , LOL). There are 6 people in this house using this machine and I never know where they have been... so I run it often!

Mike I suggest an additional category: as needed. Now that I've been running Firefox for a while, I only need to do a search-and-destroy mission for spyware when I notice system problems--sluggishness, lockups, etc. I suppose it's only a matter of time before the evil spammers target Firefox.

Since Firefox does not support ActiveX, which allows web-sites to install software directly, Firefox will always be safer from spyware than Internet Explorer.
