I took my car to my mechanic down in Kankakee for some preventive maintenance. After I got it back, I filled it up down there because it was $0.30 cheaper. It was $3.86 down there because Kankakee County has lower fuel taxes than we do here in the Chicago area.

It is Fri. afternoon and for the first time in recent memory there has mot been a weekend jump in the price of gasoline. It sort of makes me wonder if they were not taking advantage of us. Even wall mart is holding the line!
gallon? I thought this would be a interesting thing. A city 2 hours away it costs $1.61 for unleaded. Why do we pay more??
It cost us $1.89 for unleaded
It is interesting that this continues to this day. It is also of interest just how good we had it 6 years ago! In a 35 mile radius from my home today the price ranges from $3.52 to $4.03. The communities with a Murphy Oil (wall mart) are priced from $3.69 ( the $3.52 is a college town believe it or not!) to $4.03 and wall mart is just a penny lower than their competition.
A local chain sells gasoline south of my community for 35 cents a gallon less than here and we are closer to the refinery.
We've been at $4.10 for about a week now. Gas at the casino 20 minutes away is still 15 cents cheaper as is all the towns any direction except north of us. transportation costs is what they have been telling us for years. I can remember when my mom was freaking out when gas jumped to 25 cents a gallon way back when.

Up to $4.15 since last night. The press conference held by the fed chairman precipitated this and since there has never been a press conference in the past, we should assume that the fed has nefarious reasons for doing it now. More increases are now likely to be inevitable.
I actually had to laugh this mornig. It seems MSN had Alabama at the highest in the country when I woke up this morning. Trouble is we've been a penny more than them at $4.20 for a week now. See-nobody knows the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is here. Maybe we are part of Canada and din't know it?
