wink.gif ..just some inside sources in Edinburgh..my husband's great uncle is somewhat of a Celtic scholar and did extensive research on gods/goddesses of Gaul and Celtic lore. LOL..he's the old man at the pub that at first annoys you to death then ya realize he knows what he speaks of. I still don't know where he got the info from..he refuses to tell me yet. Says he'll write it down to passed to me in his will. Od man but quite smart on history of the Celts.

G'morn to all and a Happy July 4th a day early. I'm posting this for the benefit of patients at St. Jude's Hospital. These beautiful little angels are there for variuos illnesses related to different types of cancer. This subject is dear to my heart due to a loss of several angels close to me. What this is about is patinets here could really use quilts. I make as many as I can each year and mail them to the hospital to distribute amongst the angels. If any of you ladies or gentlemen with ladies can either purchase or make a small quilt (I do a 6 ft by 6 ft quilt) to this cause, I would be greatly endebted to you. so many of the angels spend months on end in the hospital...and unfortunately some never leave. Just a bit of food for thought.

Welcome Scott! From what i know about the Gordons, they took the name from Gordon of Berwickshire, it is thought to be or Norman origins. Also the Gordons are associated with Kenmure in Scotland. Luceo Non Uro is the MacKenzie motto meaning I shine not burn. Thier family origins were believed to have begun in the early 13th century. They were of pure Celtic descent, not like many of the other clans of Norman origins. 1267 , you ancestors were at Eilean Donan at Loch Duich in Scotland. As far as he Gordons go..the first known in Scotland was Adam de Gordoun, he was in Scotland during the time of Julius Caesar, it was not until around 1400 that the Gordoun name lost the "u". I love to do research on Scottish surnames and septs. Well..again welcome and be proud of yer heritage!

Give thou thine heart to the wild magic,
To the Lord and the Lady of Nature,
Beyond any consideration of this world.
Do not covet large or small,
Do not despise weakling or poor,
Semblance of evil allow not near thee,
Never give nor earn thou shame.

The Ancient Harmonies are given thee,
Understand them early and prove,
Be one with the power of the elements,
Put behind thee dishonour and lies.

Be loyal to the Lord of the Wild Wood,
Be true to the Lady of the Stars,
Be true to thine own self besides,
True to the magic of Nature above all else.

Do not thou curse anyone,
Lest thou threefold cursed shouldst be,
And shouldst thou travel ocean and earth,
Follow the very step of the ancient trackways.

I hold these dear to my heart...even did small scrolling tapestry with this on it.
