After converting from litres to U.S. gallons and Canadian currency to U.S., the gas here in Ottawa, Ontario is around $2.57 US per U.S. gallon today.

Ouch! $2.57 I would think we all need to try to slow down and stay closer to work and home. Try not to go as much show OPEC we don't need their stinkin oil that bad.

I saw today the Gas was down to $ 2.03 so I stopped and filled up. Friday, it was up to $ 2.19. And that was for the 87 Octane.

I do not mind the cost of Gas going up, it is just when it jumps in large increments that really upsets me.

Does anyone know what the cost of Gas was at this time last year and what percentage it went up to today's rate?

If you're willing to modify your car to run on alcohol, I know a fellow that will supply it for $1.25 a fifth.

The lowest I have seen it is $2.06 here where I live in WV. My hubby and I are seriously thinking of buying a motorcycle.

I'm running my F250 diesel on the road more cause diesel is at $1.59 per gallon. I parked the Lincoln even though it gets 27mpg. Too expensive. I've got an old 91 Taurus I can run if I have to.

US oil companies have deals with the OPEC nations that state if you sell the crude to us at this low price per barrel then we promise to buy X amount of crude from you. OPEC to protect it self has established limits of production. That leaves the door open for non OPEC countries to sell their crude at what the market will bear, pushing up the mean average of crude, causing prices of gas to go up.

It called the cause and affect clause....
if you slow down production and only release so much it drives up the cost.
