Finally had to tie her in the boat because it was too big a battle to try to land a large fish AND the dog. My husband didn't know which to net first. He and a friend pushed off from the bank one day without Mati and told her to stay. They had to net her before she drown in the river cuz she was NOT staying behind.

Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter. Lullabies, dreams and love ever after. A thousand welcomes when anyone comes... That's the Irish for You!
Paula would love to see the pics of your parrot! I have friends that have them and they are characters! One time we were attending a funeral and were all supposed to meet at someone's house afterwards. Hubby and I were the first to arrive. We knocked on the door and we heard a voice say "come on in." The door was unlocked and we did! Only to find out no one was home but the parrot!
There was a show on PBS last night.. The rain forrest , and all the parrots...
Where they go to the cliffs to eat the clay.. for nutirents, and to counter act any toxins they may have ingested...
First the Mealy Amazons came, then the blue wings,, and last of all the Macaws.. Just to see them in flight was a treat, and to hear them..
Crackers is in this room behind me.. So I turn the TV up so he can hear all the jungle noises,, He goes nuts .. but he goes nuts for the B'52's .. the vacume, and the shower too ..
They do say the "right" thing at the "right " time.. and its halarious when they do,, Just like your friends bird, welcomeing you into their home ..
I will get some pics of him with the digital .. and post them,, He is really funny
I have three dogs. My bride calls them "Her children", and I can assure you that they are treated that way.
One male, 90% black lab, named Duke. He's the wise one, and at 100 lbs he still likes to curl up in your lap. The only dog I've ever seen that knows how to grin. He thinks he's human. My wife calls him Baby.
The female, lab/chow/shepherd mix. She has some emotional issues (she doesn't like being alone), and a touch of arthritis in a knee. Her name is Heidi. She likes to wear makeup (she sits with my wife in the morning and she likes a little powder on her face, makes her feel pretty). She also goes by Sweetheart.
The puppy, Charlie, a golder retriever/yellow lab mix. Full of life, and always smiles. Loves to play catch with a tennis ball. Very atheletic. Also goes by the name Charles Dog.
And I'm their chef.

Paula! That is so funny about yoru Parrot. Is his/her name Crackers? Cute! That story is hysterical. I hear they often times outlive their owners.
Shamalama! I can relate to your wife! My doggies are my "children" too! Both of mine have emotional issues too in that they don't like to be left alone either!
I wish I had pics of this. One of our dogs, Sadie, is a golden lab/german shepard mix. She gets her ears from the shepard side. Way too big for her head. When she's bummed out by something, she sticks those great big ears out sideways. More than one person, when seeing that, says, "She looks like Yoda!" She does, too.

Normal is a relative term. For some reason it is not a term my relatives use to describe me.
What a great bunch of animal-lovers there are here!!
I've met CelticRose's pups; her Nikki is my bud, right CR?
Now I have a little menagerie at my home: one turtle named TJ who lives in a turtle pond in the front lawn with 5 or 6 fish, two delightful mutts out back named Buddy (who adopted us about 4 years ago and looks like a short German shepard) and Lady (100 lbs of talkative lab/cocker spaniel/mutt mix)...
but my favorite babies are our three cats Simba (a sweet, long-haired tabby), Ruby (a short-haired tabby whose well-deserved nickname is "Psycho-Bi**h") and our newest member of the family Snicklefritz, a friendly black & white 2 year old who showed up in my in-laws garden and picked my husband as his new owner!
Here are the cats: (Ruby on the left, Simba on the right, and Snickle on the table)

"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king..."
Sheesh! I'm sorry it took me so long to look in here.
This is my girl. Buffy, the kitty slayer. She's a year and a half, and a complete daddy's girl/goofball.
