I've no idea where this should be posted, so I took my best guess. ...

One of the pads on my piccolo just came loose. I can get the entire pad out pretty easily if I want. I have no access to an instrument repair shop and need to fix it myself if at all possible. I do have some Aleene's Jewel-It glue, which I've always had work well at bonding metal and non-metal things together, but I don't want to do anything to harm my piccolo, and I've no idea if it would. Does anyone know anything I can do to fix my picc?

Is the pad OK, just fell out? Then put a *teeny* bit of Elmers Glue on it until you can get to the repair guys. It will last for a while but is still easily removed when you get a real repair done. I used to use it on my clarinette pads all the time.

The pad's OK, but the only glue I have is a bit more permanent (normally, anyway) than Elmer's. And I won't be able to get to a repair shop for months. I'm on a small college campus without a car.

Are you in the college band? Your band director should have some glue you can use on it. I wouldn't use anything more permanent than Elmers or maybe Rubber Cement. I've used Super Glue on my clarinet before and have had to soak the key in nail polish remover several months later in order to put on a new one. Anything that dries that hard and permanently will mess it up and cause problems later on down the road.

You could also ask around the dorm to see if anyone has some Elmers Glue.
