Well we are having a St. Patrick's day party this year and I thought that this was the perfect place to get any ideas for it!

We are going to have the party throughout our house. We have our little pub (named the "Celtic Corner"!) downstairs and want to use our main level as well to spread it out.
Music (down in the pub), decor, food, DVD's to play on big screen upstairs (just for effect), silly games, toasts, theme rooms, or theme ideas are welcome. We are big on creative goofy and cheesy ideas, so don't hold back.

We got a Blarney Stone ready to go at the entrance, green shamrock necklaces, hats, green lightbulbs to put on outside, tons of green Xmas lights strings (on sale for .60 cents a string!), beer choice, specialty drinks, just got the Young Dubliners: "With All Due Respect - The Irish Sessions" for one CD, (more ideas on music please, traditional and rock it out), hiding lottery tickets for guests to find, need some leprechaun tricks (we may take a room and make it the leprechaun room and flip everything upsidedown and fill it with some tricks).
Just want to have fun.

Watcha got????

Hey Togo. Sounds like your on the right path. I don't know how much more I could add. You have some great ideas. For music old and new I would add the Dubliner's,Wolftones, Chieftains and Clancy brothers for that old time Pub and rebel tunes. Rockin bands such as Flogging molly, the Pouge's,Enter the Haggis etc. Go to Paddyrock.com for more info. If you live in a area with a pipe band hopefully an Irish pipe band Hire a piper for drinks and a little stipend or invite the whole band after a parade. My Band has always enjoyed the invitation of strangers after a parade and if your looking for a leprechaun ask around to see if a small person is hiring themselves out for party's. go-n-eiri an bothar leat. beer_mug.gif

Great Ideas Togo.

There is a company that has a lot of holiday/party related things fairly cheap. If you go to their site and search on St. Patrick you'll find 20+ pages of items. May give you some ideas as well.

Good luck! and I hope you post pictures! I'd love to see that upside down room!

Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention or what, but I just found out our cities St. Patricks Day parade is tomorrow (I thought they already had it!) and it starts practically right outside of my building!
So, maybe I'll bring the camera tomorrow...

The party was great or I should say parties. We decided to do a couple. We had one Friday for friends. We had a bout 30 people there. Then on Saturday we had both of our family's over for another celebration. Then Sunday we went to the South Boston St. Patrick's Day parade. My brother has a condo right on the route. Great time.

We went through with all the decor and the place looked great. People enjoyed it. We also had some more additions in the "Celtic Corner". Got some framed posters of Irish pubs. a map of Ireland (of course), one of Celtic music, signs with some Irish sayings, got an old Guinness sign from a liquor store that was closing, a Guinness dart board. a few collectible Guinness glasses (see a pattern here, love the stuff!) many shamrocks all over the place and ballons.
The only thing my wife put a nix on was turning the dinning room upside down for a leprechaun room. I guess I really didn't think that one through.

A real fun 3 days (felt like I was in college again). A lot of Irish toasts and jokes, good food, drinking and music. I had a variety of tunes playing from the Wolf Tones, Chieftains, to the Young Dubliners and others. Got some more people hooked. We may have a few new members to the site!

Nothing like having a fun group of people together, lots of laughs, listening to Celtic music with a Guinness in hand for a great holiday! Already planning the Second Annual! I Like second annuals.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
