[B]COLOR=green]Are u a paid member of the SCA?

My husband and i were for a year a few years ago. But we don't go to that many events to spend over 40 dollors a year. So we pay the $3.00 no member fee when we go to events. [/COLOR]

Yup, I'm a paid member. I have to be, I'm an officer in our shire, and soon to become the seneschal.

There really isn't a problem with not being a national member if you choose not to be, so long as you don't hold a position that is warranted, such as any shire officers' positions on up. Even deputies are required to be.

But really, I went for years and years with just being a local member...soaking me for $3 at troll wasn't a big deal, considering that I never went to many events. All the meetings and fighter practices, but very few events.

I'm also a paid member--I serve as a warranted Chiurgeon for the Barony of Thescorre, Kingdom of Aethelmearc. I attend a few local events in Western New York each year, and have been the Baronial Pennsic Land Agent the last few years.

I'm a paid member, have been since the year I joined. I let it lapse a few times, but have kept my original membership #!!! I'm the A&S officer for our barony so I definately have to be, right now.

My wife and I are paid members and have been for almost 5 yrs now. My wife is a baronial officer as Chronicler, and I'm an Marshall for Combat Archery, and MIT for Siege and will be working to get Thrown Weapons marshallate soon as well.

We both have our AOA's and my wife has a baronial award as do I at this time.

My wife <Lady Brangwyne of Wentworth > is also a member of our Baronial musical group, called Concentus, and also does scribal work, on both kingdom and baronial levels and is a seamstress as well.

Me...I build combat crossbows , siege weapons and am in process of making my own armor, and enjoy making things like pouches, bracers and other stuff in leather. We also both enjoy regular archery among other things smile.gif

Our home barony is Bergental, in East Kingdom.

YIS.

Going to finally stop being a Pennsic Virgin yay!

Glad it's Pennsic 40 that shall be my first Pennsic....only drawback is that my wife wasn't able to get war week off for vacation time so we could be there together sad.gif

Oh well.....I will be staying with a few friends, in our encampment, by the name of Raven's Nest, hopefully in N22 which is near my home Barony's usual spot.

Hopefully, I will get to meet many new friends, and folks that I otherwise converse with via emails etc.

YIS,

Lord Seamus MacCorcrain

Wow, this is an old post! I was a paid member for a LONG time. As much fun as I had at events, real life travel has become our dream. So I have let my membership end, and now I just pay the extra fee when I go to events.
