tongue.gif Annabelle - thanks for sharing your pics...they are wonderful! I bet 7 Nations is another one of those bands who is really great to see live...was this your first time? or had you seen them before? Who else did you get to see?

I saw 7nations At the Glasgow Highland games in KY. They were wonderful. At that time they had their own tour bus with their own name on it. The next year They didn't have the bus.
That is the first time I also saw CAD. So it was the best Highland games I had ever been to. thumbs_up.gif

They were sponsored by Dewars for a few years, but are no longer. Corporate sponsorship goes a long ways towards paying for a bus. It also explains why they were using this for a while: (trying to insert photo-let's see if it works)

You can always check their website, http://www.sevennations.com for upcoming dates. They can sometimes be found at venues other than festivals, so they just "might be" coming your way. Failing in that, they also have a live VHS performance for sale. They're in the process of upgrading their website right now, I don't know if you can find it right now- but check back. It's more than worth the $10 they charge for it. If they still have it available is an older live performace tape- I think this one's been sold out for a few years. The one that's still around is titled "Live at the Palace Theater" and was recorded in 2002. The other one was from (I think) 1998 and was titled (I think) "An Evening with Seven Nations." I probably should dig it out and check...

Regarding ArizonaAmy's question about seeing them live- well the tape's one option for you also.
I've seen them four times, 2 were "Excellent" 1 was "good" and the last was "mediocre." As with any group- or people in general, they have on days and off days. The "good" performance I can't say is their fault- there were problems with the venue-supplied sound board. Dan Stacey's fiddle kept cutting out. He ended up having to hold it next to his microphone for 3/4 of the show, and having a fiddle player stuck in one location the whole time takes away from the show a bit. By the end, for the encore he ended up venting some of his frustration by throwing the mic across the stage. One of the local cable companies was covering this show, and I called mom at the beginning to tape it for me- no suprise the mic throwing was edited out. smile.gif
The performance that I would rate as "good" was at a celtic festival that was moved indoors due to rain. It was interesting in that it's rare to see performances where the entire group is seated, but the usual energy levels aren't there. Especially when the audience is seated as well- it seems that the audience feeds on the band's energy, which feeds on the audience's energy auntil there's usually a snowball effect. Lacking that, with everyone sitting around something is missing.
I never did figure that out. I mean, it's a CELTIC FESTIVAL and they moved it indoors due to a light drizzle! Have the genes really been diluted that much that the average attendee can't stand a little rain???
