I wanted to start this thread here so we can continue to pray for all involved.

This young man was obviously mentally ill. That is a given. He suffered redicule from his class mates from high school to college. If one has a propensity to take these things extremely seriously, not forgive, develop bitterness and hatred to those who mistreated them, then no telling what a person may do...especially if they are not in a healthy state of mind. I mean, how many of us were not accepted or made fun of in school? Doesn't mean we went out and killed innocent people, right?

No way would I ever hold this young man's family responsible...but I DO hold Cho responsible. He acted upon his feelings of hate, bitterness, unforgiveness and apparently took his feelings to the level of insane obession.

Do I think that Satan had a foothold in this? As a Christian who believes in Satan, I must say yes. I believe Satan is the ruler of this world and will do anything to keep us from knowing God and his son, Jesus Christ.

Cho *was* responsible for his acts. No doubt about it. But I also feel that Satan took those evil feelings Cho had and used them as an opportunity to use Cho as a pawn to kill innocent people to turn others away from God. At this point in time I am sure folks are asking..where was God during this time? I believe He was right there with each and every person and the dead are now enjoying life in paradise with Christ.

Whether you feel I am delusional or disagree doesn't matter to me one bit! The main thing is that I just feel horribly sad for the victims and families who have and will suffer from this horrific tragedy forever. My thoughts and prayers are with them all. My prayers also go out to Cho's family.

As someone watching from a distance I have to say that Cho took full advantage of America's ridiculously tolerant gun ownership law's.

The stories coming out of V.T. were truly horrific.

It should also be said though that many more people are being killed EVERY WEEK in one middle eastern city than in the whole of the US and western world. Whilst I have every sympathy with the victims and familes of the Virginia massacre we should also remember the victims of atrocities everywhere and not just on our own doorstep.

If you want to come in here bashing US gun laws, why don't you go into the thread called gun control in the politics area. That's if you dare. Cho is the one who did the killings not the gun. Just because in your country if an intruder breaks into your home, intending harm on you and your family, and you meet them with deadly force, you can count on being treated like the criminal. That's all I have to say here in the Kirk area about the ridiculous UK gun laws.

First of all NS, this thread was in the general discussion thread when I replied, not in "the Kirk" which had it been, I would have left it alone because I would never have seen it in the first place (I never look in here, until now obviously).

I apologise if you felt my comments were harsh but you cannot say that the US laws did not contribute to this tragedy.

Perhaps defending the UK laws on firearms was hasty but most of the crimes comitted here are isolated, not en-masse.

Nevertheless now that you have brought the "gun control" thread to my attention I will "dare" to have a look. rolleyes.gif

I wont make any further comment in this thread as I realise it is not the correct place for such discussions.

I apologize as well. I'm sorry I came off so harsh. I actually I felt I should be the one to apologize but I accept yours. thumbs_up.gif

Sorry for the confusion with this thread.

I am actually going to create a thread and poll in the politics forum for those that wish to discuss the impact, both human and politically, of this tragic event.

CeltWolf and others that attend Virginia Tech
Now that classes are back in session, how are you doing? I saw on the news where they told the media to get out so they healing could begin. I'm glad for that. I hope the media stays out. You guys need time alone and together to put your lives back in order.
How are you doing? Are your classes and studies going well? Our thoughts and prayers are with you always. May you, your friends, and everyone be able to put this behind and find joy and learning in each new day and comfort in the Lord and each other.

Hello all!... Peace!..... It is my fault about this thread! I started it and thought at the time I was starting it in the Kirk and Chapel. But because I was not paying attention to where I was at the time, it got started in the discussion thread....to my horror afterwards. I take full responsibility and apologize *profusely* for any confusion and hard feelings I may have caused. I am so very sorry. sad.gif

Celtic Rose
Don't feel bad. Kirk and Chapel is a good place for such things. Sure there might be politics, gun control and other things that have come up as a result that don't belong here. The main fact is a terrible thing happened and many were hurt. Cho and his family need our thoughts and prayers. Those who were killed have been taken Home but their families and friends are still here and need our prayers. Those that are hurt and in hospital need our thoughts and prayers. All the students and staff not only there but in all the schools close by need our thoughts and prayers. They need to have peace and comfort and to know they are not alone.
In these troubled times we need to remember and pray for all our children, that they may find peace and comfort and that the Lord watches over them and keeps them safe. One person can cause much trouble and hurt as one did at Tech Campus. Many of our children live everyday in the midst of gang wars and violence and in the fear of drive by shootings.
Don't feel sad. The people at tech campus and all our children and people everywhere need our thoughts and prayers. Pray that they can find peace and comfort in these troubled times and that they can know they are never alone and the Lord will keep them safe.

Rebecca it's no big deal that you posted it hear. You started it out calling for prayer for the victims and their family. The Kirk is the best place. thumbs_up.gif

Nova Scotian, it was me, Celtic Rose, who messed up by posting the origiinal thread in the wrong place. I am so very sorry. I simply was not paying attention to where I was as I tend to multi-task when on the net. I appologize to all.

Iain! Know that I think the world of you as a friend. We have much to learn from you in the UK as well. Please do not go away!

I simply wanted to start a thread where we could pray for all involved....the victims, their families as well as Cho's family. No telling how horrified Cho's family must feel through all this sad.gif

Blessings, Rosemary

Hi Celtic Rose, I know, I know...I've been a stranger crybaby.gif but I thought I'd look in and your post caught my eye (as many of your posts do).

I feel too for this horrific event, I cannot begin to understand what happened, except in the terms you express.

You may know we had a similar tragedy in Tasmania some years ago, a nutter with a gun shot 35 people at Port Arthur. 30 - odd families affected, who knows how many others in the extended families, plus friends. It has a HUGE impact on a community.

I look forward to the coming of the Lord, then there will be no death, no tears, no guns!
Other than that I see little joy in this world gone mad.
