After a decade or so of the "Glasgow -Miles Better" marketing campaign, Glasgow is repositioning itself with a new slogan "Glasgow - Scotland with Style".

Oh how I laughed biggrin.gif

They also had another slogan - WAIT FOR IT....

'Glasgow: the new Black'.... I mean, how long did it take the PR/Marketing bods to come up with THAT slogan?! biggrin.gif

And, Glasgow IS stylish. Even as a devoted Edimbra person, I always think that Weegie wimmin are probably THE most stylish after Londoners and Mancunians! SO THERE tongue.gif

Here's a wee snippet from the Evening News

ACTOR Billy Boyd will fly home from the Oscars to play a starring role at the launch of Glasgow's £1.5million new image.
The Lord of the Rings star will co-host the unveiling of the city's new logo and slogan with TV's Sarah Heaney, pictured bottom left, on Tuesday, March 9.
Billy, 34, from the city's Cranhill, will do the honours at the star-studded event at the Clyde Auditorium just days after attending Hollywood's hottest night of the year.
The popular actor, whose latest movie was Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, with Russell Crowe, was said to be delighted at the invitation to help promote the city.
He will help launch a new identity which will be used to sell the delights of Glasgow to an audience of millions worldwide.
Organisers are keeping details of the city's new promotional slogan under wraps until the launch event.

An insider said: "We can't comment on the slogan at this stage. The slogan and logo will be unveiled on the night along with details of the full campaign."
Eddie Friel, Greater Glasgow Tourist Board chief executive, said: "We are delighted that Billy and Sarah have agreed to co-host the event.
Billy is a passionate Glaswegian and, thanks to the Lord of the Rings, is recognised around the world.
"Sarah is one of Scotland's leading broadcasters and is increasingly making her mark on UK audiences.
They are ideal choices to present the evening because they can speak to and appeal to audiences at home and abroad."
The new city logo has been be designed by six firms, all but one from Glasgow.
The group was led by city-based Maguire Advertising and Design and included Glasgow firms Atlanta, the Big Partnership, the Trophy Centre and Russell Ferguson Marketing as well as London's Media Planning Group.
The consortium beat two London firms and a second Glasgow bidder for the deal.

I kind of like my idea's for a slogan

"Glasgow: We got stuff to do."

or perhaps

"Glasgow: We really want your money."

"Glasgow: Not just any ancient fishing village."

"Glasgow: It ain't Siberia."
