and do you have a special recipe or favorite brand?

I like Stephens Dulce De Leche Caramel and of course with marshmellow cream..yummm rolleyes.gif

Posted by: VetteGal 07-Jan-2005, 10:03 PM
Actually, I do like the normal brands with the mini-marshmellows. I know, but I like the marshmellows when they first go in as they are still a bit hard and not all soggy like normal marshmellows get when you add them. I know, I'm weird.

that is so sweet of you 3Ravens. I don't need it this minute. I see VettaGal is offline so I guess you are next if you hurry up! I don't know how much more my index finger can handle. Come on now you can do it!! smile.gif

Ummmmm, when I look at the recipe, this is actually a mocha coffe mix, so it might be too much coffee for you, but here goes.....
1 Cup instant coffee granules
1 1/2 Cups unsweetened cocoa
1 1/2 Cups powdered instant dry milk ( don't even try the non-instant kind, the
Voice of Experience says it Will Not Work!)
1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
2 Tablespoons dried orange peel

Combine all ingredients, keep in an airtight jar. 1 quart canning jar works well.
To use, put 3 tablespoons mix in a mug, add 8 ounces hot water, sweeten to taste, and exjoy!

I like marshmallows anytime, anywhere! smile.gif

Any kind of store-bought syrup or mix (Hershey, Quik, Swiss Miss, etc.), but made with MILK, not hot water! And I have to have marshmallows.

I don't normally buy hot chocolate out, but if I do I go to a coffee place. They make it with milk.

Posted by: WizardofOwls 08-Jan-2005, 12:09 AM
I agree, Mike! Milk makes it SO much better!

Sure does! Makes it creamier and frothier (is that a word?)

Posted by: VetteGal 08-Jan-2005, 01:00 AM

I personally drink Ovaltine but only the Rich Chocolate style not the Malt Chocolate. Mixed either with hot or cold milk. Sometimes I put Marshmellow in - sometimes not.

Other then that I love also my Milk Mixes in the tastes of Vanilla, Banana or Peach. Unfortunatly you can't buy those here so my Mum has to send me a constant supply of that from Germany. happy.gif

The stuff they have in the espresso makers in convenience stores is NOT hot chocolate. It is made with water. Real hot chocolate is made with MILK. Hot cocoa is made with water.

About 10 years ago Hallmark came out with a card line and calendar line that had to do with exactly this line about Chocolate.

It was a cute line that preceded "the Maggie" line.

The cards always had something cute inside them like"

on the front of the card : I never met a chocolate I liked

inside: but my hips did

very cute line
back then

I love hot cocoa especially with whip cream. Its soooo yummy. There has to be a lot of chocolate in the hot cocoa but not so much that its over powering but enought that it doesnt taste like flavored water and then the whip cream adds that nice cream flavor and sweetness.

At Christmas time, my wife likes to fix these little treats... She takes these pretty Christmas glasses and fills them with hot chocolate (made with milk, we're not picky about the brand, its all good to us!), then she puts a cinnamon-flavored candy cane in, tops it with whipped cream and then puts green and red Christmas sprinkles on top! Its very good!

Having grown up playing hockey outdoors in the Canadian prairies, Hot chocolate holds a special place for me. So many winter mornings were spent warming up in the club house with a hot chocolate between periods. Now that I am older, have children of my own, and live in a differnt climate I still love hot chocolate. Only now we have a lot fewer snow days, the kids like marshmellows in theirs, and I get to add a bit of Baileys or Drambuie to mine smile.gif

Posted by: mealltach 11-Jan-2005, 07:08 PM
mmm HOT CHOCOLATE!!! My favorite is served at the holy chapel of St. Arbucks (All hail the divine Bean) but modified slightly from the usual recipe. Here's how to order it

Grande Breve Hot Chocolate with 3 pumps mocha 1 pump cinnamon and 1 pump of chai.

This just rocks! band.gif
