Where do you escape to when you need to indulge yourself? So many of my friends here are having terrible weather. Where do you go in your mind's eye? Is it a tropical island, desert oasis, mountain top (minus the snow) or a busy foreign market place? What do you do there? Do you focus on the sights and smells of the area or the people (or lack of)?

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.

In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves."
The place I see when I close my eyes is the east side of Glacier Nat. Park. It is the most beautiful place on earth. I remove any people, but it can snow all it wants!

Hoka Hey! The more Liberals I meet, the more I like my dogs!
I go to the beaches of the Outer Hebrides; where I can smell the Atlantic and hear the birds with the wind whistling by. Sometimes there are one or two people strolling along the beach with me.

Don't think bad of me, you see I am a wee bit mental. This is my escape.............. I work on my manuscript, why I can change all the things that upset me. Or, I can kill off the idiots that annoy me.
Simple fix, but it works for me. Of course I'm easily pleased.
If I'm fantasising, it's the Mayan temples, with no one else within sight or hearing distance but those I bring with me. Or my island.

"I am a Canadian by birth, but I am a Highlander by blood and feel under an obligation to do all I can for the sake of the Highlanders and their literature.... I have never yet spoken a word of English to any of my children. They can speak as much English as they like to others, but when they talk to me they have to talk in Gaelic."
-Alexander Maclean Sinclair of Goshen (protector of Gaelic Culture)
No kidding! If I need a time-out for me I seat myself to my computer. There is a (I think so) wonderful model-railroad simulation - where I can build my own landscapes and all thing they're needed for a model-railroad. In this simulation I don't use the models only - I construct my own and include these into the landscapes I created (Alongside I sell these models in a Web-shop too and earn a little bit money with it) If you want to see what I mean, please follow the link to my homepage
Something is under construction yet - unfortunately I haven't so much time in my hands to finish all the things directly. But if you follow the links on my page (to the shop you can get an idea what I mean...
oldraven, that's a nice place! Which kind of music do you playing? I am living in a musical house too. My daughter plays a respectable guitar and bass. (mostly punk, grunge and such things) She is seventeen and has no interest in techno-boomboom and all these modern things.... Check this: My daughter - live and in action
My space is the roof of the building I manage. It is 70 ft. off the ground has a great view of the lake and I have the only key. There is a small storage room where I keep a couple of lawn chairs and a little B-B-Q. It is my space away from the Maddening Crowd, my Fortress of Solitude.

I go sailing, solo; and focus on the sights, smells, sounds, sensations, and solitude. Best therapy on the planet.
I also use to go single-handling when I owned my Shark. For peace and serenity there is nothing that can compare. Tis Communion between the Creator and your inner self.
I love to think about sitting on the warm sand in Bethany Beach, DE. I see the dolphins rollicking in the waves. The smell of the sea air is so refreshing. The sun beating down, warming my skin.

I have this small glen at the base of a towering waterfall that exists in my mind. I tend to go there and lay by the stream, listening to the waterfall, and the birds in the woods. As I trail my fingers in the cool water and bask in the sunlight. I'd love to find a real analogy to this place.
That sounds absolutely wonderful. It seems really peaceful. I love the sounds of birds, maybe that is why I have 21 birds surrounding me everyday. Every now and then, I just sit back and listen to them talk among themselves.
When I need to escape, I retreat to my childhood. It is fall and the leaves are falling all around. I have raked up a pile high enough that I can climb inside and hide from the world. The smell of the decaying leaves is wonderful, and the faint chill in the breeze reminds me that Halloween is just around the corner, followed quickly by Thanksgiving and then Christmas. Fall was always the most magical time in the world for me. So many things to savor.... applebutter, festivals, colors, sights and smells....
Sorry, I was escaping there for a second
Thanks for reminding how much I cant wait for fall to get here!

I want to escape, but I can't! These darn shackles still cling to me.
I have been to Glacier National Park once many years ago, and that is one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring places I have seen. I long to see the Hebrides once. But as for work, there is no escape there.
Lately, I get away by remembering times with my brother, Neil, who died in Christ this past April due to cancer. His memory always brings an unexpected smile.
