The 50th annual Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and Gathering of the Clans is coming up this week - July 7 - 10. Anyone planning to go? I sure am! I enjoy everything about this event, but the most special thing to me is the Thursday night torchlight ceremony and calling of the clans...so much tradition and history in a simple ceremony! If you've got the opportunity to go, please do! It's a great event and this year promises to be the best ever. Also be sure to catch Off Kilter playing in the Celtic Groves - high-energy celtic music at its best!

You are so right about he torch light ceremony. It was beautiful. I was just glad that it didn't rain all weekend.
We got their on Tues. we stayed on the rowdy side, beside to stagger trail.
We are already making plans to go next year.

It's hard to believe that next year is almost here. wink.gif

We've already made our reservations and have our
spot on the MT. smile.gif

Should be there this year. I've been frantically keeping that weekend free, here's hoping it stays that way.

I'll be camping if I'm there. And I *camp* curfew, but go over to rowdy to party till it's time to drop. ::grin:: It's just that once I decide it's time for sleep, I want it QUIET. You'll be able to find me fairly easily...just look for the huge canvas tent in the middle of Coleman-land!

Yup, that's where I can be located. I'll be dancing till I'm too tired or too drunk to continue. LOL I wind up packing one whole bag for just my dancing gear alone.

...and don't remind me about the marshmallows! Gah...I was getting that crap outta my hair for two days. Marshmallows + rain = fun until you sober up. LMAO
