I'm looking for a really good barbque sauce recipe. Does anyone have a good one to share? I would like a recipe that's good to make barbques using beef instead of pork. The kind of barbque that you pile high on a bun and top it with cole slaw. Yummy!!! maggiemahone1 |

Believe it or not, there are some purists out there who abhor using barbecue sauce ! |

What would life be without barbque? I can't imagine going thru life without this lip smacking sauce. You know it's really good when you have a pile of napkins by your plate! My favorite sauce from the store is Open Pit, I haven't been able to find this sauce in years. Does anyone know if they make it any more? maggiemahone1 |

Grandma Gardiner was my grandmother, and made the best beef barbeque you ever tasted! It is more a Carolina type flavor not real heavy with tomato flavor but more vinegar accented... like they like in the south. |

Yes Open Pit is still made and available in most stores here in the PA region... BUT I have found a great store bought sauce called "Sweet Baby Ray's ". If I am going to use store bought this is the one I use! |

Yeah, Open Pit is sold here in Chicago too, although you have to go to the local grocery stores to find it regularly. The chain stores don't carry it too often. You suppose they have marketing deals with Kraft, the makers of that yucky KC Masterpiece ? |

I am from North Carolina, Pitt County. There is a pulled pork style of meat that is called Barbecue. It does not use barbecue sauce, it is vinegar based. unfortunately, it is not available in Southern California. The last time I went back to NC, I came home with several pounds and put it in the freezer. Good Stuff. As for the red tomato based sauce, we use the sugar free version of Smoken Joe Jones. |
