Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. Looks like the Leprechauns were good and did not raise havoc on our website! Everything appears to be running ok.
Please note our special schedule today which will include a St. Patrick's Day show played at 9:00 AM and at 10:00 PM along with a special interview with the Celtic Tenors at 7:00 PM tonight. All of these excellent shows are hosted by Charles Dewhurst and the "No Celtic Boundaries" team! We will also be playing our top ten count down, Celtic Radio Music Awards and other specials throughout the day!
Although not with the weather, I don't ever recall a St. Patrick's Day snow storm in Boston, but we got about 8 inches of snow until it turned ice and then to a hard cold rain. We are hoping the Leprechauns will do a little magic and clear up the weather a bit for the 106th annual Boston's St. Patrick's Day parade in old Southie. The parade begins at 1:00 PM over at the Broadway 'T' Station and ends at Andrew Square, South Boston. Your best bet for viewing the parade is to stake out a spot anywhere along Broadway!
Ok, on with today's prizes and giveaways. We have an excellent selection of 12 CDs to giveaway including a just received, hot off the press copy of The Fuchsia Band's Gra Da Raibh new CD. This CD includes the hit track from the movie, "The Wind that Shakes the Barley". We literally just opened up this package, so a big thank you to The Fuchsia Band and to Máirtín De Cógáin!
Were also going to throw in some Celtic Radio Bumper Stickers, a few posters from the "The Wind that Shakes the Barley" and a few Celtic Radio of Tshirts.
Prizes will be given away throughout the day from this morning to late tonight. We will announce the prizes in this message thread along with the details how you can win. When the eagle shall nest in the hollow glen When mountain and fen shall from mists be free When the priests shall no longer for gold be seeking The crow shall be speaking as plain as we.
Alright! The first CD goes to Haynes who was the first to respond to our broadcast announcement for this CD! Make sure that you listen and watch this thread!
The next CD is Máirtín De Cógáin False Start album. Máirtín does some excellent singing and story telling on this CD. A real keeper:
Thanks for the great music! You folks are brightening my day. I am a psychotherapist and get inspiration through this music for helping my people through the twists and turns they are needing to navigate. I play bowed psaltery, mountain dulcimer, guitar and harmonica. I like Celtic, Bluegrass and other folk music, and appreciate the work you and your listeners are doing to advance some playful, creative, sane culture in the world! Peace and God be under, before and behind you. Al
You and me both, Ambrosius...glad I'm not the only one...at least I "think" I know how to play, but not sure! Ha! I just hate that I'm not able to hear the broadcasts!
Dear Lord, lest I continue in my complacent ways, help me to remember that someone died for me today. And if there be war, help me to remember to ask and to answer "am I worth dying for?" - Eleanor Roosevelt
