Do you know that the Polar Bear lives in Northern Canada, Greenland, Norway and the former U.S.S.R and that their tracks have been found in the North Pole. There approx. 22,000 Polar Bears living today.

"If a man has found nothing he's willing to die for, he is not ready to live"

DISCIPLINE MUST BE A HABIT SO INGRAINED THAT IT IS STRONGER THAN THE EXCITEMENT OF BATTLE OR THE FEAR OF DEATH.
General George S. Patton

Laws that forbid the carrying of firearms, disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assulted, and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourge, than to prevent homicides. For an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Did you know that two lions held up the construction of a railroad in India back in the late 1890's because they were terrorizing the workers and eating so many of them? Can you imagine how entertaining it was for my kids this week when we made that discovery during our school time?

Did you know Wombat that I'm pretty sure they made a movie about those two lions? I've seen the movie...just wish I could remember the name.

Leenie, did you remember that Val Kilmer was in that movie? I didn't see it but the name of it was the Ghost and the Darkness. I wonder if I'll be able to find it to show it to the girls for school??

Why couldn't I remember the name of the movie? Wasn't it a good one with Val Kilmer in it? Could it have been any bloodier?

Why do some people find blood and gore so fascinating? Doesn't that make a sad statement on the world we live in? I mean don't people like non bloody entertainment?

Do you know that I agree with Druid_of_Ark, about the blood and gore. Just to much in everyday life. Do you know I don't think children now days have much Imagination. It's right there on the screen.

Did you know that "Blood and Gore" at one time had "shock value" ? Whatever that is supposed to mean. Did you know that the "average child" is estimated to have seen over 10,000 murders in his lifetime?

Do you think children become immune to violence, bad language and sexual situations? If they see it on TV and in the movies all the time, do they think it's alright?

Don't you think that instead of immune a better word is desensitized? I mean after watching so much violence by age 18 doesn't it seem likely that they will not have a problem being violent in a world they perceive as violent?

Don't you think that it's better to get your inner frustrations out by playing a violent game rather than going out and beating up the people who annoy you? I would never harm anyone unless he or she was attempting to harm me or my kids but I enjoy Tomb Raider and Grand Theft Auto games where you're shooting everything in sight so does that make me some sort of closet violent person? Or just weird? ohmy.gif

Do you think a child can separate the fantasy of games from the reality as easily as an adult? Or are we to conclude that children that play those games are more mentally mature than the ones that do not?

Do you know that the steady increase of violence, drug use and sex by our young people can be directly linked to the media. Do you remember morals in TV, Movies and music. Don't you know that the more the media, has gotten away with the worst it's gotten. Don't you know that we grew up watching TV and movies the difference was the good guys always won the bad guys always lost. Thats a positive thing, not to say we didn't have our share of problems. Don't you remember when someone got shot on tv, they would grab their stomach and fall down. We knew they were dead and if they moved the were wounded. we didn't have to see blood and guts every where. Do you know that we hire young people to work for us, their in twenty's and it's as if they have no imaginations if they can't see something, they don't seem to be able to figure it out when they have a problem. Do you know we grew up playing games like Monopoly, Sorry, aggravation and Mouse Trap just to name a few. Do you remember how much fun we had? and not a single person was killed in the game and no blood or guts.

Did you know that before the days of Television and video game violence there was no need for Metal Detectors in School (except under the bleachers after the game to find lost money)? Did you know that there is a direct rise in the number of Teen Pregnancies that is related to Sex Ed, not a decrease as the proponents of Sex Ed had promised.

How is it that we have let our children become so used to seeing all of this? Shouldn't we do more to stop the growing amounts of violence they see?
