I posted this in general, but it belong here.
Believed to have been written in the 1840's it's a great song about a Scot who would rather be back home rather than in Canada in the 1800's.
In my humble opinion Stan Rogers did the best version.

Your land of wheat is a goodly land,

Scotland's glens give me.
Oh, I would like to hear again the lark on Tinny's hill
And see the wee bit gowany that blooms beside the rill.
Like banished Swill who view afar his Alps with longing e'e.

I first heard him on Tay radio AM before they stopped streaming outside of the UK.
If you haven't heard him you should. I don't know if he's on the play list, but he should be.

Hello there,
I'm a new member and am so glad I found this great community.
Many of the original settlers of Vancouver Island immigrated from the highlands and the outer Islands of Scotland. The climate and landscape reminded them of home.
