If you have been listening to our broadcast for the past week, you will notice that we now have an official station announcer for the broadcast. She is a young girl from Northern Ireland who has agreed to produce a number of station announcements over the next few months. Please give us some feedback on her voice. What do you think of her brogue? Can you understand her? Should we have her produce some more station cuts? Thanks for your feedback! |
Posted by: ranger 13-Sep-2003, 03:10 PM |
I know I posted my answer somewhere else, but her voice is just that goooood. Wanted to say it again. |
Posted by: ranger 13-Sep-2003, 03:12 PM |
Oh yeah. Like the choice of Avatar, too. Although not my fave character, anything to promote Tolkien. (As if he actually needs promoting!) |
Posted by: MDF3530 13-Sep-2003, 04:20 PM |
I like her. She sounds like a hottie . |
Posted by: ranger 13-Sep-2003, 10:18 PM |
I think hottie is an understatement. Maybe it's just because I don't get to hear someone speak like that very often. (Only on TV). |
Posted by: scottish2 14-Sep-2003, 05:29 AM |
Yeah she's a keeper. I'd like to hear some Scottish accents as well maybe see if we can get a Scottish announcer as well and mix up the anouncements. |
Posted by: barddas 14-Sep-2003, 06:30 AM |
Aye, she's a keeper. I do agree with Scottish2 though. A nice Scottish accent would be nice too. But yes I do think they sound very nice. Thanks for all of your hard work Paul!!!!! |
Posted by: Mimossa 14-Sep-2003, 05:42 PM |
she has quite the musical lilt to her voice.Keep her. Thanx for a great site!!! your hard work is appreciated LOVE CELTIC RADIO!!!! Mimossa |
Posted by: Longshot 16-Sep-2003, 10:18 AM |
Outstanding brogue! Easily understandable, and a very friendly voice. Definitely a keeper! |
Posted by: stevenpd 16-Sep-2003, 12:40 PM |
I just don't understand, someone voted no . . . . |
Posted by: scottish2 16-Sep-2003, 02:04 PM |
Suurprises me as well that anyone would vote no. |
Posted by: ranger 16-Sep-2003, 04:21 PM |
Who voted no? Where are they at? Mangy scoundrel.... |
Posted by: Mimossa 16-Sep-2003, 08:27 PM |
big raspberry to whomever voted no there is one in every group keep her her voice is stellar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! time for a pint |
Posted by: ranger 16-Sep-2003, 08:34 PM |
And another one! Ah, what is this world coming to! |
Posted by: ranger 16-Sep-2003, 08:36 PM
What is that? A PINT? You mean they come in pints? I'm gettin' me one. |
Posted by: Billsnerdness 17-Sep-2003, 09:13 AM |
I agree she's a keeper....wonderful voice . This is what should happen to whoever voted no! Have one on me |
Posted by: scottish2 17-Sep-2003, 09:21 AM |
ARCK Now there are 2 no votes |
Posted by: shycartech 18-Sep-2003, 11:07 PM |
If there is no explanation for the no votes, they shouldn't be counted. Why vote no if you can't explain? I can explain my YES vote- she sounds like a warm comforting voice from home far away. Thanx |
Posted by: Elspeth 19-Sep-2003, 07:49 AM |
She's great, but agree would like to hear Scottish brogue as well. Preferably that of a hot MALE Scot. Equal time is only fair. |
Posted by: stonesoupmix 20-Sep-2003, 04:37 PM |
Definitely a keeper. I too agree with scottish2, a lovely scot accent would add a wonderful touch. Keep up the the great work on the site. Van Stone Soup Band Sound Tech Hey Mimms glad to see you've found this site see you @ Finnegans |
Posted by: maggiemahone1 22-Sep-2003, 06:41 PM
I agree Elspeth! maggiemahone1 |
Posted by: scottish2 23-Sep-2003, 05:18 PM |
OK so we need an Irish Guy and a couple of Scottish accents to keep everyone happy. |
Posted by: Macfive 23-Sep-2003, 06:56 PM
Your wish is our command! We will see about a "hot MALE Scot" for our next batch of station scripts! We have just received 10 new station announcements from Rebecca (our announcer), but it may be a number of weeks before we are done with the sound and effects mixing. |
Posted by: ranger 23-Sep-2003, 09:20 PM |
Only one question. Does Rebecca have a website? |
Posted by: ranger 23-Sep-2003, 09:24 PM |
QUOTE (Elspeth @ Sep 19 2003, 09:49 AM) She's great, but agree would like to hear Scottish brogue as well. Preferably that of a hot MALE Scot. Equal time is only fair. And at great risk to myself......... |
Posted by: scottish2 24-Sep-2003, 04:04 AM |
I'm with you Ranger |
Posted by: ranger 24-Sep-2003, 04:43 PM |
Soprised that no one's asked for my head yet!!!! |
Posted by: scottish2 24-Sep-2003, 05:13 PM |
Why I'm with you on this for sure!! |
Posted by: ranger 24-Sep-2003, 08:15 PM |
And the two ends meet in the middle..... |
Posted by: valpal 59 24-Sep-2003, 08:45 PM |
rebecca has a great voice and does a great job, but I have to agree with Elspeth... |
Posted by: Elspeth 24-Sep-2003, 10:03 PM
How can I when I don't have a clue what you two are talking about? Clue in a currently clueless sheltered suburbanite? Or don't I want to know? Is this one of those times when it is better to just not ask? Don't embarrass me now. I have small children. |
Posted by: ranger 24-Sep-2003, 10:20 PM
- Elspeth Wouldn't dream of doing that , dear. It just had something to do with me posting... And at great risk to myself......... No more hanging myself, now. I plead the Fifth. |
Posted by: Elspeth 25-Sep-2003, 07:58 AM
OK, plead the fifth the fourth or a fifth of whisky. What do I care if you lads have your jokes, we lassies are apparently getting a dreamy voice in the gender and nationality of our choice. |
Posted by: scottish2 25-Sep-2003, 09:53 AM |
Techniqually I beat you gals to the punch request though check the 5th response. |
Posted by: Elspeth 25-Sep-2003, 10:11 AM |
OK. As long as a guy with a dreamy Scottish accent greets me when I connect with the station, I'm happy. Better yet, combine audio with a visual. Gorgeous man in a kilt speaking with a dreamy accent......... Now I'm really happy. |
Posted by: scottish2 25-Sep-2003, 10:29 AM |
And of course I was refering to a Female Scottish Accent. |
Posted by: ranger 25-Sep-2003, 11:37 AM |
Again, Elspeth...... |
Posted by: Elspeth 25-Sep-2003, 03:34 PM |
What? You guys have Rebecca, a colleen with a voice to melt any man's heart. As I said from the first, equal time is only fair. |
Posted by: scottish2 25-Sep-2003, 03:39 PM |
But being of Scottish decent I prefer a Scottish Brogue No offense meant to Rebecca she's definately a plus for the site! But that is why I mentioned a Scottish female Brogue. |
Posted by: Catriona 25-Sep-2003, 03:41 PM |
As long as it isn't a Sean Connery 'soundalike'.... And, can I just say that I am shocked and dismayed that neither Tartangal nor myself have been approached and begged to make announcements.... We would complement each other very well - her Weegie accent and my Edimbra one... |
Posted by: Elspeth 25-Sep-2003, 03:47 PM
But, can I still have the guy in a kilt? |
Posted by: scottish2 25-Sep-2003, 04:01 PM |
Well offer up at least, us Guys wouldn't mind. Nothing sweeter then a great Scottish female Brogue. The Paul can work on getting a guy for you gals |
Posted by: ranger 25-Sep-2003, 04:21 PM
OK, OK, OK.... since you keep asking. I'll do the kilt, but whose gonna wear the bikini? |
Posted by: scottish2 25-Sep-2003, 04:30 PM |
OK you want kilts? Here is someone answering that age old question of what scotsmen wear under their kilts LOL |
Posted by: Elspeth 25-Sep-2003, 04:45 PM
Isn't that what the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition is for? So, we can expect you to post your picture when? |
Posted by: Elspeth 25-Sep-2003, 05:12 PM
I came across this one while researching.... http://www.jadecat.com/graphics/scotland/answer.html I love the guy who's trying not to laugh... |
Posted by: scottish2 25-Sep-2003, 05:18 PM |
Yeah saw that a lot when looking for a good pic but the one was so popular awhile back figured you had seen it already so wanted a new one. |
Posted by: Annabelle 25-Sep-2003, 08:12 PM |
Hey I love her accent, but could we get a guy once in a while...you know wee women folk have visions too. So give us a guy's voice once in a while... Annabelle |
Posted by: ranger 25-Sep-2003, 09:08 PM
Probably when, as I quote from earlier, I shave my dog's arse and take a picture of it. (Shadows, I think) It would probably come out better. Don't recall seeing yours, either. (Bikini optional) |
Posted by: Elspeth 25-Sep-2003, 09:22 PM |
You're the one who offered! I don't do pictures, they're against my religion (or something...) Actually, I had a long discussion just lately as to how inserting pictures into a correspondence doesn't bring reality, for the mind isn't the illusion, the picture is. If you keep them confused, they forget the question..... |
Posted by: ranger 25-Sep-2003, 10:04 PM |
How could a picture confuse a conversation? I actually don't mind posting mine, but all I have is my driver's license photo. And we all know how they usually turn out. |
Posted by: Elspeth 25-Sep-2003, 10:12 PM |
My favorite driver's license photo was this guy I knew, he shaved off half of his mustache for the shot........ |
Posted by: Boudica123 19-Oct-2003, 11:21 PM |
YEA SHE SOUNDS GOOD FOR AN ANNOUNCER i HATE BORING ONES WITH NO ACCENTS..... YEA MORE ACCENTS WOULD BE COOL LIKE ENGLISH SCOTTISH |
Posted by: A Shrule Egan 26-Oct-2003, 02:25 PM |
Not sure why we really needed a poll for this one. This was a no-brainer. Paul, you are moving in the right direction. As for the two people who voted against....... |
Posted by: Angel Whitefang 06-Nov-2003, 02:30 PM |
I think she is wonderful, I can understand every word she says. Please keep her and have her do as many cuts as possible.!! Fantastic choice! Blessed Be, Angel |
Posted by: barddas 03-Dec-2003, 10:16 AM |
I have been hearing the NEW Holiday Station ID's!!!! Very nice!!! |
Posted by: wyld piper 04-Dec-2003, 05:32 AM |
--Definitely a plus to the website (as if it could have used any improvement anyway), Love the Site Paul, Am a new inductee and already addicted. Kudos!! |
Posted by: Madadh 04-Dec-2003, 06:00 AM |
Love the voice, For Elspeth, this is not a hottie in a kilt, but an Irishman and his friend. |
Posted by: Eamon506 16-Dec-2003, 01:53 PM |
I am a bit late on the post, here, but I had to throw my 2 cents in (make it 2 dollars worth!). Keep her.......PLEASE! And you could sure play a few more station ID's as well Eamon |
Posted by: rock_serenade 01-Mar-2004, 05:14 PM |
Her voice sounds great though it seems as though she is trying to hide her accent to hard. |
Posted by: Macfive 01-Mar-2004, 08:28 PM |
Her name is Rebecca and she is from Ireland. We will hopefully be getting some new station ID's from her real soon! |
Posted by: silverdragon 02-Mar-2004, 12:37 PM |
New station ID's with that lovely lilt? Yea! |
Posted by: ChuckDenton 08-Apr-2004, 11:11 PM |
Oh, please keep her!! I wish my wife would fake such a brogue. I could listen to her for hours. Please keep her. I also think that whoever voted no meant to hit the yes button. It had to be a slip of the finger... |
Posted by: Ceciliastar1 10-Jun-2004, 01:35 PM |
Well I just joined the group so I didn't notice the difference (haha) but I like her a lot. She's isn't obnoxious, she has a very relaxing voice. Keep her! P.S. I LOVE dragons, so you will always see the dragon emoticon from now on! haha! |
Posted by: Ceciliastar1 10-Jun-2004, 01:40 PM |
Ewww! I didn't even notice that the dragon ate the magician!!! I am highly scandalized now (lol), I will being changing my emoticon though, I don't like bad dragons (that sounds really weird) |
Posted by: Camchak 19-Jun-2004, 06:40 PM |
Aye, she sounds great! If you do get rid of her can I have her??? (Joking I think...) Keep her, she is great! |
Posted by: Macfive 20-Jun-2004, 02:16 AM |
She's taking a little break from the broadcast, but Rebecca will be back soon with some new voice overs for your listening enjoyment! |
Posted by: sir_tal 17-Sep-2004, 03:08 PM |
Does Rebecca have a website? Has she considered doing Books on CD/Tape, etc? Dang, I would buy and listen to ANY book if it was read by her. -Chris |
Posted by: Mimossa 17-Sep-2004, 06:47 PM |
she is a keeper voice she is cool Mims |
Posted by: Macfive 17-Sep-2004, 06:57 PM |
We are currently working with her now on expanding her presence on the station. Probably in a few weeks you will hear some new announcements. She does have a terrific voice! |
Posted by: Muileach 18-Sep-2004, 02:35 PM |
She does have a terrific voice, and I really like the new promos with the background music. It would be nice to have some promos with a man's voice, though, preferably with a Scottish accent. |
Posted by: Macfive 19-Sep-2004, 05:55 PM |
The Voice of Highlander Radio reveals herself! Our main page now has a recent picture of Rebecca! She is a very talented girl from Ireland and we will be using her exclusively for our broadcast for station promos, sponsor trailers and more. We do hope to compliment her voice with a male voice too, possibly from Scotland as suggested. |
Posted by: WizardofOwls 19-Sep-2004, 06:23 PM |
WoW! Thanks Mac! Lovely lass! Every bit as lovely as her voice! |
Posted by: mingkee 19-Sep-2004, 08:04 PM |
her voice is cute |
Posted by: talleyrand 19-Sep-2004, 08:33 PM
MERCY! Mercy, mercy me. I had imagined ``beautiful'' hearing the voice but the picture... goodness, gracious me, she's angelic. |
Posted by: Tassiecelt 20-Sep-2004, 07:15 AM |
As I've said before, I think she is wonderful, I have a thing about Irish women, especially when they sing -Moya Brennan, Mary Dillon (Deanta), Sinead O'Connor, Cathy Jordan (Dervish) and the list goes on. Now we have Rebecca, I love her, she's great! |
Posted by: sir_tal 20-Sep-2004, 11:36 AM |
Oh my...she is stunning. My wife agrees! Thank you macfive, for posting that picture. Absolutely gorgeous. -Chris |
Posted by: mingkee 20-Sep-2004, 07:01 PM |
how about the ancestor of Karen Carpenter from?! if it's from Ireland, OH MY.....!!!!! |
Posted by: Sekhmet 20-Sep-2004, 07:21 PM |
Not to be nitpicky, but...yeah, to be nitpicky. Isn't it supposed to say "Distant shores await you" rather than "Distance shores?" Just wondering. |
Posted by: Macfive 20-Sep-2004, 07:26 PM
Thank you! |
Posted by: MacEoghainn 21-Sep-2004, 06:06 PM
I'm in Love!!!! |
Posted by: oldraven 22-Sep-2004, 10:53 AM |
Mac, perhaps you should place her image in the banner, rather than the red head. I say the scot from the Alexander Keiths ads. (I thought I'd posted this already. *scratches head* ) |
Posted by: CelticRose 24-Sep-2004, 01:27 AM |
Hey! I really like her and loved the recent photo of her too! she looks and sounds like a real beauty. She is a keeper as far as I am concerned, and I agree that maybe you should put her image in the banner instead of the other. Just a thought. |
Posted by: stevenpd 24-Sep-2004, 11:31 AM
Could she be the face of CR? |
