Ok folks, we have a number of CDs that we have been saving for the past few months that have gone unclaimed! sad.gif What a terrible thing! Will you help us find homes for these CDS???

There is one catch, in order to claim one of these CDs you need to be a Celtic Radio Founder. It does not take much, our lowest plan is only $1.49 a month and for $1.95 a month or $15 a year you can signup for our premium plan which contains alot of cool features.

http://www.celticradio.net/php/founder/index_founder.php

We have 7 great CDs to giveaway including Susan McKeown, The Brazenheads, Weston Tyler Brown, Stanley & Grimm (2 copies), Mother Grove and Marc Gunn.

The CDs are going to be given away over the next few days and as an experiment we are going to give them away over on FaceBook on our Celtic Radio group page located here:

http://www.facebook.com/CelticRadio#!/pages/Celtic-Radio/299120621001

So be sure that you are part of the group on FaceBook and keep watching to claim one of these CDs.

The only rule we have is if you have already won a CD in the past 30 days, you are not eligible to claim one of these CDs.

We've given away 2 CDs tonight over at the Celtic Radio Facebook Group. See the link above to access. We shall have 2-3 more CDs tomorrow night too.

This is a good test for St. Patrick's Day. Every year our website crashes because of the 1000's of people that flood it every March 17th of the year. Our plan this year to use Facebook to giveaway all of our Paddy's Day prizes.

A suggestion for those who don't do facebook.

Have you considered signing up for a facebook account only during contests? There are still a number of organizations that offer free e-mail accounts that you could use to create a facebook only e-mail address. Then sign up for facebook during the contests and then cancel your account after the contest ends. I'm not sure how many times facebook will allow you to start and suspend an account, buy I do know people who have come and gone more than one time.

My neighbor, a very sensible lady in her 60's, signed up for facebook and someone accessed her e-mail address book and began sending XX rated material to all of her contacts using her name and address. Somehow they took over her computer for periods of time. She would not be able to use her computer for periods of time. I traced the mail for her and it went through two Canadian servers. I saw some humor in it but she definitely did not.

She had the computer cleaned and changed her internet provider. I believe she changed her security also. She changed her e-mail address too.

No face book for me!!!

I'm not worried about security, I just don't see the point.

Thanks for everyone feedback on the facebook CD giveaways.

Just a side note, we mailed all contest CDs yesterday; sorry for the delay!

Our facebook contest was a test to see if we can actually hold a contest on Facebook. Turns out it worked out good. I think in the future we might schedule an event so that we gain access to a chat like box.

We plan on holding our St. Patrick's Day CD giveaways on facebook because every year our servers crash with hundreds of people trying to log into Celtic Radio to win a CD. This way, people can still login to our site to hear the music and go to facebook to win a CD.

I see the facebook issue from both sides; although lately I am beginning to be a bit unhappy with facebook and society. Marriages being broken up; Ministers being run out of town - all because of facebook. This is totally off topic but I do believe that Facebook is now peaking and there probably is going to be a privacy backlash against facebook.

I am a great believer in the free flow of information and when one entity trys to control information it is not good for the people. Whether that is google, microsoft, the government or facebook......

Ok, gotta go check my facebook account! biggrin.gif

Paul,

I am pretty sure you hit about everything happening at facebook; I like it but it doesn't have the freedom with graphics and such like good ole myspace; which, for the last few months, and especially this last month; there are a LOT of angry myspacers with all the updates, then the total switch over to their new myspace 3.0; you'll even see a LOT of familiar things at myspace that facebook has. New myspace, I think, is awesome; much sharper image and I think once all the bugs and complaints have cleared up; I personally think people will go back.
Bottom line; they both have their issues

I'm not much on the chat thing; I think I'm much too slow, however, with facebook it doesn't seem to matter as it has a hard time keeping up.

Anyway; that went a bit off topic; but I think that on the CD give-aways if facebook is working out better; that's very cool; I seem to keep forgetting to check it all out; in fact; I may have won something in the last couple of years and never knew it :-) VERY happy things are working out better and you reach a record high on listeners!

as always, thanks for all your help and support...
