First, gggggggrandafther and mother. I would like to hear what they thought of going to a new world by emigrating to the Americas.

Second, 13 year old ggggggrandfather, getting ready to go to the Americas

The wee bugger bring up the Scottish rear at Bannockburn.

Seriously my gggrandfather . He was a Colour Sergeant in the Cameron Highlanders fighting the Afghans on the India Frontier.

QUOTE (maggiemahone1 @ 02-Feb-2008, 11:40 PM)
If there was one person from the past or present... an ancestor, the High King of Ireland, Bono or whoever... must be Irish or was a big part of Irish history... and you could sit down and talk to, who would it be?

I think I would like to sit down and talk with William Butler Yeats.

When I went to Ireland I visited where he is buried in Sligo and was completely taken aback by what was written on his tombstone "Cast a cold eye on life, on death." because that is exactly my kind of thinking as well more than I care to admit sometimes.

I would like to get to know that gentleman and really know about his life.
LOA.

My greatgrandfather came from Ireland, but I am not sure I'd like to talk to him: heard he was a real SOB.

Who would I like to talk to? I don't know, Maureen O'Hara?
