Actually I'm right across the bay in Tampa. I work for HCFR and I've been there for 5 years. I use to work for So. Pasadena FD for a year and for Sunstar, unfortuniatly, as well. I started learning the pipes last December and kind of got indoctrinated into a new band call the Firefighters Pipe and drums of Tampa Bay and it's made up of personel from various depts.

Bill Howard's your P/M, isn't he? Saw him last night at Flanagan's; he was trying to recruit me for your band.

Yes he is our P/M and our instructor. He does a great job. His wife, Margo, is one of the drummers. I make it to Dunedin occasionally. To Flanagans to be exact. Hope to meet you there sometime. Next time you see Bill ask him about Alexander Keith's beer.

Yeah, I was thinking that. And also that pipers in Florida must be particularly hardy, given that kilts are made of wool, and humidity makes it all that much harder to keep the pipes in tune.

Hope you lads do catch up with each other for beer and stories.

i was talking to a kilt maker last weekend she said wool is the best cause it absorbs... ya dont get drippy.....and that the natural air flow keeps ya a cool....
but having reed problems i can see unless they are using synthetic.......

Hey Dundee,

Missed you -- where you been  biggrin.gif

beer_mug.gif well to be truthful madadh....

i just havent felt like posting.... i get wearisome of seeing some of the topics repeated and repeated.... ie.... "what are you listening to right now"
"what are you reading" and the infamous "question only thread"

i also dropped the politics forum from "my view new posts"
religion may be next...... wonder where some of these people find the time to write such long scathing diatribes.....

not sure what i am looking for ... but i dont like to post just to post and accumilate
big numbers in numbers of post.... i still come in often just nothing lately i wanna reply to ......

plus i post from work... hehe.... gotta watch my time.

thanks for missing me... beer_mug.gif hey come to racine sometime... we will go to the yardarm and have a few pints, listen to good live music and talk about important things..... like........

REDHEADS biggrin.gif

Posted by: Madadh 12-Oct-2005, 09:05 AM
Dundee,

I know what you mean. I stay out of the politics and religious threads myself. My Grandfather told me that it was safer that way.

As for the Pint, any time old friend we could sit down and watch (or chase) redheads, blonds, or brunnets as long as the beer lasts.biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
