Posted by: Lady of the Loch 29-Nov-2006, 06:05 AM
According to http://www.wthr.com/Global/story.asp?s=5737029 TV Land has compiled 100 catchphrases of all time. iI haven't thought of some of these in years, like:

"Where's the beef?" (Wendy's ad)
"Well, isn't that special?" (Dana Carvey as the Church Lady, "Saturday Night Live")
"Pardon me, would you have any Grey Poupon?" (Grey Poupon ad)
"I'm Larry, this is my brother Darryl ..." (Larry, "Newhart")
"Homey don't play that!" (Homey the Clown, "In Living Color")

check the list out, it had me laughing

Donald Trump isn't even the best 'you're fired' out there. That belongs to Vince McMahon, chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment.

OK - here's a few from my childhood. Let's go back to my all-time favorite TV cartoon character, Might Mouse:

"Here I come to save the day" (can you here the CBS Playhouse orchestra play the theme?) That's from 1955...

Another one that my mom used to use, usually when I did something bad, from Jeff's Collie, better known later as Lassie from 1957:

"Pusillanimous Polecat", which Gramps Miller used to say (he seemed real easy to piss-off, too...)

And lastly, although I think there was a quote from Leave It To Beaver in the URL Lady of Loch referenced, here's my favorite from the original series, first uttered by Beaver's well-dressed mom in 1957:

"Ward, I'm worried about the Beaver" - classic!! biggrin.gif

I haven't thought of mighty mouse in years hahahahaha

how about the professor and peabody's line "let's step into the wayback machine"

or
"look it's a bird! it's a plane! it's rocky the flying squirrel!!"

or "nuttin up the sleeve....presto!!" both from rocky and bullwinkle

Posted by: Muircheartach 14-Dec-2006, 03:00 PM
Hi Sis,

You know, I forgot all about Bullwinkle and Rocky - and I used to watch them all the time, but I was in high school at the time, so perhaps my mind was on other things besides their mis-adventures. rolleyes.gif

It does make me remember, however, of Boris Baddenoff and his famous vow that he made over and over again, to no avail, to "keel moose aand squeirrel". I'm reminded of that because I used to work with a person from Czechoslovakia, who always spoke like that. I was always wondering if he married Natasha? tongue.gif

Have a good one!

No, it's Mr. Peabody (a cartoon dog) and his pet boy Sherman.
