I've went 8-2 in the playoff predictions this year. My fav team (the chargers) unfortunately lost but I've been wanting to see the Cardinals do well all season... mainly because I had a bunch of them on my Fantasy Football team hehe (thanx for all the points Kurt Warner!!!) I would like to see the Cardinals finally get a superbowl ring. The steelers are going to be a contender for some time, but I think this may be the only shot for the Cards as I don't see Warner stickign around much longer. I pick the Cards |

I'm from Pittsburgh. If we don't display black and gold head to toe at all times from now until May, when we finally get over winning a superbowl, you are summarily tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail. But that's ok, I fully endorse that behavior. I'm a Steelers girl. |

Going with the Cardinals. Can't go with the Steelers, because hubby's best friend is a Steeler's fan, so I have to go with the other team to keep it interesting. Val |

HEATHEN!! |
Posted by: Dogshirt 21-Jan-2009, 07:00 AM |
Why, yes , I am! And I have never seen a super bowl in my life. |

Dogshirt you got me to wondering why do they call it the Super Bowl? It surprised me. Now I know. lol The first Super Bowl was actually just called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game back in 1967. The owners were trying to think of a catchier name to attach to the big game until one day when Lamar Hunt, the founder of the AFL, was watching his daughter play with her super ball and the term "Super Bowl" popped into his head. |

Being from New Orleans, I don't know what it's like to have a true rooting/supporting interest in the game. I guess since the Cardinals are from the NFC, like the Saints, I should support them. I'll likely watch the game, but won't really get too excited about it. |

There is going to be only one victorious team... GO STEELERS! Dog Shirt I know you are lying, I have been told you smoked some supper bowls in your day LOL!!!! Just kiddin! |

I am not a huge NFL or AFL fan. I prefer the man's version of the game that we play up here in Canada. CFL rules RULE! Now I realalize that our tinny CFL league is a training ground for future NFLers. But Iam sorry you donnot need four downs to gain 10 yards! The American rules do help to inflate the score and I guess that's why the rules in the NHL have changed. It seems that most Americans won't watch a sport unless there is non stop scoring as found in basketball.....oh yeah that's another game invented and first played in Canada. However I digress if had to pick a side I would have to cheer for the Blue Coller Team, The Steelers. Not guaranteeing that I watch much of the game. Some times the commercials are better than the game and of course costume malfuntions during the half time show are always entertainig! |

Just started cooking for the party...well, I did a lot of the prep work last night, now it's time to put the beans on, throw the ham in the oven and slice up buns, stuff like that. Pittsburgh public schools announced a two hour delay for Monday, they know how this town gets. Weheheh. |
Posted by: piobmhorpiper 01-Feb-2009, 09:56 AM |
I am surprised that the Monday following the Super Bowl isn't a National holiday. There will be too many hangovers and suicidal people out there for there to be any work done! |
Posted by: Rindy 01-Feb-2009, 04:02 PM |
That sounds yummy Sekhmet! I've never heard schools taking a delay! Where was that when I was in school? lol. lol piobmhorpiper. I agree that a lot of folks calling in to work ill tomorrow from hangovers. I won't be one that's for sure. Well I say let the festivities begin. I am anxious to see the half time and all the commercials. Well will see what everyone thought afterwards. Anyone here a Bruce Springsteen fan? Go Cardinals "I usually go with the underdogs!" Never take it too serious unless of course the Broncos are in it. Slainte |

I have a bunch of people here in my tiny livingroom waiting for the game to begin(we will be watching in HD thats why they are here and not at their own homes). Lots of food and beer, one rule I have is NO FIGHTING. Some are for the Steelers and the rest are for those birds. I'm going with the Steelers and waiting for the commercials. |

Got to go with the Cards! What kind of an Arid-zonian would I be if I went else where. Besides...Denver isn't playing. |

How about them Steelers |
Posted by: Rindy 01-Feb-2009, 09:42 PM |
Thought the Cardinals was going to pull it off! Was a good game. Here's the pint I owe I wasn't really thrilled with any of the commercials other than the Scotland one. Slainte |
Posted by: Haggishead 01-Feb-2009, 09:47 PM |
I agree with you 100%, Rindy, on the game. And most of the commercials were stupid. |
Posted by: Rindy 01-Feb-2009, 09:49 PM |
Thanks Harlot and I just posted in your thread on the commercial sorry I didn't see it. I agree Haggishead most of the commericals were a disapointment. I didn't think much of the half time either. I guess it was alright. What did all of you think. Did you like Bruce Springsteen? Slainte |
Posted by: Harlot 01-Feb-2009, 10:26 PM |
I really like the game, the bud commercial and of course THE BOSS!! As soon as I seen that horse have a Scottish accent I just had to post it. I even put it on myspace. |
Posted by: piobmhorpiper 02-Feb-2009, 05:28 AM |
Well it seams that the NFL isn't for the birds I pickes a winner! I new the steelers could hang on and they did. The Boss was good but I can't comment on the commercials because the CRTC up here in Canada blocks them out. But I guess I didn't miss too much according to Rindy. Ok Super Bowl is over....Let's get on with Spring! |
Posted by: piobmhorpiper 02-Feb-2009, 05:37 AM |
Any hangovers this morning? Did you make it to work today? |
Posted by: Harlot 02-Feb-2009, 06:41 AM
I did post the only that was good so go check it out BUD commercial. |
Posted by: jbarron 02-Feb-2009, 03:22 PM |
I grew up in Pittsburgh with Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Mean Joe Greene and all the others so I am a diehard Steelers fan. I generally don't watch the Super Bowl unless the Steelers are in it so we had a great time watching the game yesterday. |
Posted by: jbarron 02-Feb-2009, 03:28 PM
What do you think of the new coach for the Broncos? Denver had a rather dismal year unfortunately. |
