If you are ranked #1 you get a special honor of being the King or Queen of all of Celtic Radio.

Right now this shows on the topic post you make, but very soon we will add this to your profile and a special section on our main page!

Not a big deal, but there have been several times when Rindy and I have been tied for first place, and the game seems to randomly pick only one of us to be king/queen.
I don't know how difficult a change would be, but shouldn't all people with the same highest score show as king/queen?

Posted by: ranger 23-Aug-2008, 11:43 AM
I think that the way that it is done now is the only fair way to do it. It doesn't seem to be picking them in any random order if you're tied. Just like in soccer, if two teams have the same point standings in the league, you go to the next line, which is goal differential, then goals for then goals against and so on down the line. If you are tied with someone here, it goes then to the number of gold pieces as the tie breaker. I'm assuming if that was also the same the next tei breaker would be food, etc.

I think as kingdoms develop it would be natural to have a king/queen for each kingdom, based on their level within the kingdom. This would allow multiple players to be king/queen. Unfortunately, the game has not developed to that point yet.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Posted by: Skeleman 23-Aug-2008, 04:28 PM
Wow, I'm ranked number one at the moment. That came as a surprise to me, especially since I started out as ten or eleven today. I'm not sure how long I'll remain up there though. Someone else will most likely have taken the top spot away by tomorrow. If that does happen I'll certainly try my best to get it back.

Posted by: CelticRadio 23-Aug-2008, 10:11 PM
We will take a look how a tied score is ranked and if it goes by Gold next.

Good points here!

Posted by: CelticRadio 28-Aug-2008, 05:11 AM
I think we will start a thread so people can post if they have been King or Queen. Maybe something like Current and Past Royalty!

Posted by: seamusmaccorcrain 06-Mar-2009, 07:43 AM
Would be nice to be a King for a while, but.....I'd need to have a wee bit more of everything that I have already smile.gif

It's nice to see the progression up thru the ranks as the game goes one, it gives one something to strive for !

As we say in the SCA, VIVATS to all our current royalty....may their rise be swift and may they not rest easily and forget what it's like to get there!

Better by far to be the hand that holds the sword or axe than the head that holds the crown. The throne is no place for a warrior's ass!

beer_mug.gif

I wouldn't say that a throne is no place for a warrior's ass my lord Dogshirt as many Kings and Queens in different countries's history have fought side by side and died on the field with their subjects even some not wearing the Royal Crown nor Royal Armor in order to blend with their men thus preventing capture from the enemy for ransom...Richard Lionheart in the Crusades, the famous Saladdin as well as the infamous Edward 1st that brought down the great warrior Sir William Wallace, Queen Mary of Scots all lead their men into battle as well as Queen Boudieca,Charlemagne, and many more....

So, though I understand your meaning I can honestly say that the throne is indeed a place for a warrior's ass....as Kings and Queens were (at least in medieval time and even before that era) powerful figures and many a good war strategists and leaders on the front.
That is why men were proud and honoured to serve and ready to give their lives for King Royal11.gif and Country Royal02.gif

My fairest Lady of Avalon, Queen of Celtic Radio, knowing that you abdicated the throne will make the next monarch taste not victory but only dust and ashes, for he will not have earned the honor. No matter what happens, you remain Queen in our hearts.

Posted by: Lady-of-Avalon 10-Mar-2009, 10:45 AM
My dear Lord CarolinaScots,

You too are an honorable knight and I know your worth but the time has come for me to abdicate it to the next monarch to rule over all kingdoms and there is no other avenue as you know for me anymore.

It seems that all players looks into the thread and read what is all said but no one bothers to reply...this have nothing to do with insults or anything it's all in the name of fairness to all other players and also give the game its credit and fight for something...as it is now no one makes any move.

It's like there are players out there but they are ghost...you might almost say that only a few show implication into the game, post insults or opinions it's like people are afraid to do anything.

The only one so far that have been all active and real players are the MacInnes and the Bruce....what's happening with all the other ones...they build up a little bit and stop...you see them on...comes and takes a peak in the forums here to read the salty posts and then just go back their merry ways!!!!

People have been crying left and right for lack of action in the game....well it's the people own fault for that...no one is to blame for the inactivity in the game except all the players involved.

Players of other clans must get more involved if they want action,,,no one will do it for them...certainly not the computer and certainly not doing anything except to peak in the topics and just turn around.

Now, lets see this as a new dynamic...to give a chance to all concerned to bring the monarch down and take the Crown for their own.

Let's see it as all the barons of the land have turned against their monarch and won't fight for his cause anymore but for their own.I think it's a great idea and depicts the greed for power of the time as it was then.

What say ye?

Your Majesty,

Your humble servant Taliesin of the Town of Buchanan begs an audience with the noble Lords and Ladies of this court.

As a loyal servant of the Queen, I would be horrified if any of my lowly vassals thought to raise arms against the rightful Queen of this realm. The men and women of Buchanan only wish to eke out a peaceful existence, farming, mining, and gathering the resources of the small realm which has been bestowed upon us.

If we raise what may only with the utmost grace or dishonesty be termed an army, I can assure Your Majesty and the Lords and Ladies here assembled that such a gathering of fighting men would serve merely to protect and serve the people of Buchanan.

Yea, it has often been said, "Heavy is the head that wears the crown." The responsibilities and cares of directing a realm as vast as Your Majesty's kingdom are far beyond the ken of your most humble servant.

Indeed, if you see me near your vast forces on the battlefield, it is only that I may join my pitiful forces to Your Majesty's to defend this realm from traitors who would betray your most generous benevolence with treachery.

You may count my pitiful realm as standing in support of your decisions, of course, Your Majesty. But I stand by my loyal proclamation in your support.

Ever Faithful,

Taliesin of Buchanan

Posted by: davlcam 10-Mar-2009, 07:05 PM
It is a burden paid due from a legacy of gentility and the fruit of a noble heart, such that those who were happy in their subservience must by forced circumstance from that once benevolent hand be called out to strike at one whom they loved as Queen.

Those who are now in a position to claim the throne were perhaps your most faithful defenders. How can those who pledged support relenquish their vows and turn upon you, and strike at you with a gland hand and fiery heart? And should another claim the crown, who among your clan could stomach the sting.

In time, surely someone's resources and army count will exceed yours, but do not expect MacInnes to raise any army against you! Our hearts are broken enough as it is. Time, my Lady, will grant you your wish. Do not seek the sword to hasten the inevitable, for you do more harm to the valor of lord that attacks you than you may know.

My lords,

Please you are not making it easy for me at all...I understand your pledge of honor and fealthy to me and admire your warriors courage but what must I do in order to relinquish the throne to another who might wish to rule???

I might call it treason then if any of you cannot obey their so called beloved Queen call and it is also known that barons even though with powers can loose their heads when accused of treason bag.gif

Maybe I should have some heads on pikes to decorate the crenallated walls of my castle.

Ah, Your Majesty, it is a shrewd tactic to force us into hostility by affecting a harsh rule.

Yea, but the Town of Buchanan is filled with staunch Queen's Men and Women. There may be those who would raise arms against you, but it will not be the small hamlet known as Buchanan, aye, to be sure.

Walk away from the game, from the forums, from everything MK related, for ten days. Take a vacation from MK. When you return, I'm pretty sure someone will have surpassed you, relatively peacefully. No bad blood or hard feelings.

However, If you want to go out in a fiery blaze of glory, that could be fun to.

So when you chose to wipe me out, or any of your former clan members, send a message that has a simile face on it!

My lord,

I don't know what to think of your suggestion here.
Walking away from CR???? Why??? It has nothing to do with my request to lower my score to relinquish the crown to another.

I merely suggest battle to all concerned I mean the players have been complaining of inaction in the game but they all stay idle...what is the purpose of a game if they all sit there doing nothing...look at everybody's score it's always or mostly the same except when one recruits workers...oh yes their score climbs but they have nothing in terms of army or mostly nothing.

I am just trying to shake things up a bit and encourage players to come to the front in bringing one down. Why would I want to leave all behind???
I think my request and purpose here have been greatly misunderstood.

All we've been reading in here is that people wants to play to win...I am offering a chance to gather their forces against me...and they're still sleeping on it...it's like they're afraid of something. They come here and read the thread but no reply except from a few it's like they don't want to be involved in this game...clan DARK is a big clan and since their beginnings they have not engaged in any battle except a "supposedly" error in judgement from one of their clansmen who sent out his army against lady Harlot...we all know that is was complete bull as they were planning something but never came to fruition.

Abdicating the crown to give a chance to every players to come on top doesn't mean complete destruction without my knowledge...if wanted that all I have to do is close down my account and voilà!!! There are some that had the crown for some time in the past and even if they were able to attack they were not...some were there just to be there...they were not engaging or building...they were recruiting.

And of course why would I not go down in a blaze of glory...but maybe soon I'll get what I want...who knows but I won't leave CR and turn my back after all the effort that I put in to be where I am now and drop the gloves with a blind eye.

Lady of Avalon smile.gif how's that for a smile my lord!!! wink.gif

Yes my lord Piobmhorpiper I posted the announcement in the "Current & Past Royalty" thread last night and decided to post it here as well for all to see.

And yes my wish has been granted by the good fairies of the land that the Royal Crown be worn by this great warrior that is the CarolinaScotsman and it is my honor to relinquish it to him as there is no other who deserves it most. For all that he suffered against the Wolf clan with their vicious attacks upon him and came many times close to destruction but came back always with grace and humility. To me that is valor and honor as he stood up against his enemies but at the same time shown mercy.

He is a great knight and warrior.

That in itself is deserving of wearing this Crown and again I am proud and honored to have been the one to place it on his handsome head.

It is with mixed emotions that I most humbly accept the crown. While I am indeed honored to be the new King, it is with heavy heart that I bid farewell to the fair Lady of Avalon. Her reign has been long and just; I only hope to follow her fine example.

'Twill be interesting to see who ends up in our present Kings place.

There are several up and coming challengers from what is to be seen of MK lately!

The competition is getting interesting and it would seem that many shall be falling by the wayside, or getting trampled in the scramble for the Kinghood!

Somehow I knew you'd come up with something like that...in the short time that I've been in the game, and been exploring the forums, I've seen how you always "egg" folks on.

Interesting tactic that always seems to draw folks ire towards yourself and you tiny little kingdom and gets you smacked around all the time.

Makes me wonder if you like it or you are just trying to keep people's dander up?
