Pardon me, but does anyone know what happened to the wars in Iraq and Afganastan and the threats from Iran?...

Did we win?
Did we loose?
Did they just magically go away because a new President arrived?

Has a news moraturium been imposed by the progressive socialists running our government? Or are they just too busy micro-managing banks, automakers and a business near you to care?

We are losing both wars, or have lost them. As for Iran, I am not sure but they may now be our friends.

Things really have changed. Thanks for the posts!

It just startled me to think about the status of the wars, because it used to be on the news every day or at least every other day - and now I just realize what a dirth of reporting is going on concerning the wars and their status. At the least, I think we ought to hear about the good our Service men and women have been accomplishing. It sure seems very political by those bigwigs above us all, like the main press wanted to blackball President Bush with daily reports and questions, but give President Obama nothing but unquestioning bows obeisance and shouts of acclamation.

One would think that managing two wars would be more important and news worthy than managing private companies at home; except for the fact that GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STAY THE #!*&@! OUT OF PRIVATE BUSINESS even when they are asked to get involved; that is, according to the Constitution and other trivial documents of our nation...

In a way, I too am glad for not having to hear about it so much, but I hate to think our leadership is being negligent on it - or even convering up news we ought to know about. And I certainly beleive the USA should tend more toward her own many woes and immediate neighbors than act as some UN stooge global policeman or as some imposed Government Makeover team.

LOA, I couldn't agree more. Are the American people aware how many bases we have in how many different countries? How exactly is it freedom when it's forced upon a country at the point of a gun? What business do we have even CONSIDERING invading Iran? What business did we have invading Iraq? To dethrone Saddam? Ok, that might be a noble goal except for the salient point that we FREAKING PUT HIM THERE!!!!! At the VERY least, we sent him support. This regime change and meddling by the US has GOT to stop.

We also need to examine how our actions lead to the world's perception of us, and how our actions and meddling contributed to the sentiments that caused 9/11. Please note, I'm not blaming 9/11 on us. No one forced those evil men to fly planes into buildings killing thousands of civilians. There is no excuse for what they did. However, we can't be so ignorant as to completely ignore how our foreign policy of meddling in the affairs of the middle east actually gives credence and power to the terrorist leaders. Our actions justify their hatred of us in their own mind, and give the people fuel for the fires of their terrorist actions. Again, I'm not blaming terror on us. What they choose to do with their nationalistic fervor is their choice, and I believe terror to be a poor choice. But we cannot ignore what our policy has done to fuel their fires.

While I support getting the hell out of other countries militarily, I am NOT an isolationist. I support diplomacy with all nations, along with free trade. (Our embargo of Cuba has been SOOOOOOO effective at toppling Castro's regime, hasn't it?) Open lines of communication and diplomacy is not an isolationist position. It's a position of non-interventionism.

Yeah, and what's that done for our relationship with the rest of the world? I think that ***IF*** the world really clamors for our involvement, then we tell them, "NO". *IF* the world wants us to get involved in their affairs, we need to proceed from the standpoint that they have no idea what they're asking and tell them what we'd tell our children when they demand that we give them cookie after cookie after cookie. "No." And it's for their own good.

Why are we worried about the middle east, north korea is the much closer country that openly says yes we have nukes and yes we will do what we want with them. and the embargo on cuba is pointless, imagine an embargo on china for one week, we might have lead free toys and their powerhouse economy would drop 50% overnight. The new president has one heck of a mess to clean up and America needs to really think over its current foriegn policy.

It seem the only war the media covers is that Jennifer Anniston-Angelia Joelie thing. Ohhh! What nastiness. Careful now America- they may coldy stare at each other this week at a press conference. Collacteral damage may be huge.

I think I am more disgusted with the lack of true investigative reporting and real journalism in our nation than with our government. But then, probably not by much.

You think of the thousands of our servicemen and women in these wars and hot spots. Where are the accounts about what they are doing? Too few and very far in between.
