We are just beginning on the initial stages of a project that will ultimately result in a big performance boost to our website.
Many of you know that we started out with the domain name of ScottishRadio.net. While this domain name still works with our site, ScottishRadio.net will soon become a test location for our new site.
Nothing is changing about our site, but it will eventually be hosted at a premier hosting facility in Texas. This location can provide the bandwidth that will speed up all of the functions on our site and allow us to grow our site bigger and faster and prepare for many more future visitors and services.
We are not sure yet how long it will take to transition to the new site, as many of our scripts will need to be changed. Again, nothing will change about our site, just where the site is hosted on. In addition, some changes we make with the new configuration, once completed, could save us perhaps $120 a month!!!
So, please just make sure you access our site through CelticRadio.net and not ScottishRadio.net. Once we begin testing the site out on our new server, we might be looking for some volunteers to help test everything out.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. Robert A. Heinlein
There's a dear little plant that grows in our Isle Twas St . Patrick himself, sure, that set it; And the sun of his labour with pleasure did smile, And with dew from his eye often wet it. It grows through the bog, through the brake, through the Mireland, and they call it the dear little shamrock of Ireland.
Dear Lord, lest I continue in my complacent ways, help me to remember that someone died for me today. And if there be war, help me to remember to ask and to answer "am I worth dying for?" - Eleanor Roosevelt
The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools. -- Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher (1820-1903)

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
Put me on the list, too! I mean, gee, how often do you get the chance to be in on the opening of such a great site??! Just say the word, and I'll be there

Wow! Thanks for everyone that has volunteered to help.
The first file of 450 megs has been moved to the new server. Next is all of the album cover files and graphics for the site (about 278 megs). Would you believe that 2 short years ago our site was less than 5 megs?
The database files are close to a gig.
Once everything is moved, we will update the configuration files and see if the site actually runs on the new server. We will then post the URL here and you should see an exact duplicate of our site only it will be frozen in time from about 5 days ago!
There will be no site updates or enhancements made until we finish the move.
Once everything is moved over there should be a big performance boost!
