Celtic Radio Community > Politics & Current Events > 747 Flys Low In NY Financial District

It was supposed to be a photo op that captured images of an Air Force One plane with the Statue of Liberty in the background. On Monday morning, an airliner and supersonic fighter jet flew past the lower Manhattan skyline. Within minutes, startled financial workers rushed out of their offices, fearing a replay of Sept. 11. I hope no one was hurt! Also, It would have been nice to announce the fly over to the public first!

The fly over was nothing but a photo op, apparently one of a series of flights to get pictures of the plane in front of national landmarks.

Someone certainly had a stupid attack when that decision was made!

Maybe they were emptying the contents of Air Force One's toilets. Kinda gives new meaning to the term ICBM. wink.gif

Seems to give a new meaning to the old phrase "This is only a test of the emergency response system."

Unbelievably ignorant of them. Quite efficient for Prolonged Exposure therapy though....

One of President Barack Obama's official planes flanked by an Air Force fighter jet flew low over the Statue of Liberty on Monday for a photo opportunity that reminded startled New Yorkers of the September 11 attacks.

Speaking before a meeting at FBI headquarters in Washington, Obama said he was as in the dark as everyone else about the photo op fly-by, but made no secret of his disapproval. "It was a mistake, as was stated," Obama said. "And it will not happen again."

What a minute! Isn't Air Force one the President of the USA's personal plane? Yes, (I know that there are two and that they travel in pairs always.)

Mr. President, do you know where your plane is?...
Mr. President?...
Look! The plane! The plane!

Blimey! Freaking fantasy island.

Once upon a time, I told the police officer that I didn't know where I parked my car, but somehow I was still held responsible and took the responsiblity in paying the ticket, etc. One would think the President of the USA would step forward and take the responsibility that is part of his office.

I can not help but laugh when the President says he did not know about the fly by. its my understanding that it does not fly with out the president knowing about it...it is his plane after all. It also bothers me that they went a head and tossed the pilots name out there. Almost as if they are simply tossing him under the bus as the culprit.

I read a couple of days ago that an aid shouldered the blame and resigned. They could have photo shopped new pictures and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars not to mention the bad press.
