Hi all, thanks for all the good wishes. I am back home now but not sure what is up. They are saying it is an allergic reaction to penicillian, but they really did not give a definite answer. Basically my body is attacking my hands, joints, swelling, etc. Having a very tough time with the medicine.

My hope is it is just a reaction to the pencillian, but you start reading stuff on the internet and it worries you! Going to my regular doctor tommorow, so hopefully start on getting somesort of firm diagnosis of what this is all about.

May not be on much as Killian is watching me like a hawk. Talk to you all later!

Posted by: Madadh 24-Sep-2006, 09:59 AM
Mac, Good to see they let you out. Just ly back and let them help you. We will hold the fort here for as long as you need.

Posted by: Aaediwen 24-Sep-2006, 10:41 AM
Good to have you back, my friend smile.gif

Posted by: gwenlee 24-Sep-2006, 11:05 AM
Good to see that you are at home. Rest, rest, rest. Try not to read too much info from the internet, sometimes it is TMI (too much information) and it can cause unnecessary worry. Just wait for your doctor to give you the info you need and then look it up. I once had an allergic reaction to something. I had extreme facial swelling and swelling of my hands. It took 2 weeks for the swelling to go down. I went to the allergist and he could not figure out what I reacted to. We were so sure it was latex, because the test showed I was allergic to all the proteins in latex. He called me a medical mystery and advised me to keep a epi-pen on me at all times. So I guess what I'm saying is that sometimes the doctors don't know what went wrong and can only guess and treat the symptoms. But if they think it was in anyway the penicillin you can bet they will advise you not to take any antibiotic that comes from the cillin family. Get well soon.

I'm so glad you're home again!! I know Killian and the kids are happy too, and probably hovering constantly - let them! Please take it easy, rest, and try to be patient with your recovery. Listen to the doc! You're not to worry about anything here.

Paul, very glad to see you at home. My dad was allergic to pencillian; what you describe is very possible. Can seem like a devil of a time to get straightened out, but it will. Hang in there and follow the doc's orders (and Killian's wink.gif ). We will continue to send good thoughts and prayers your way and for your family as well.

Glad to see you home and glad it is nothing too serious. Hope your family doc will have more information. Maybe get a test to see what you are allergic to. Get lots of rest.

Posted by: stevenpd 24-Sep-2006, 08:25 PM
Paul,

Glad to hear you're at home. As much as you don't want to, rest untill you get an answer. The rest will speed up the recovery time (and no doubt give you ample opportunity to think of more things to do with the site). My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Posted by: stoirmeil 24-Sep-2006, 08:34 PM
Yo, Paul! Glad they sprung you from the hospital -- not such a cheery place to be, since it's full of sick people and all. biggrin.gif

Don't you be googling yourself nuts looking for signs and portents either. It is really crazy-making to try and second guess things. I'm with everybody else on this -- rest, let yourself be good and spoiled for a while, and think up new things to do on the site -- LATER.

So many thoughts winging your way, I hear they are hiring an air traffic control person til you're on your feet. smile.gif

Paul, I'm so sorry that your having medical problems and that you've been in the hospital, sad.gif but I'm glad your back home and doing better. biggrin.gif I hope the Dr. can find out exactly what your problem is...I know that having an allergic reaction to something is no picnic and can be life threatnening...

Greetings MacFive!

Glad to see you home and in the capable and loving hands of your family!

I know what you mean about reading up on things on the internet. In June I had a painful rash on my ankle and the hospital told me to come to ER every 8 hours for the next 5 days and then take 10 days of meds at home. I looked up what I had on the internet and found out it is related to the flesh eating disease! My Dr told to stop reading medical pages. laugh.gif

I'm sure you'll be right as rain in no time. Best to the whole family. smile.gif

thanks everyone for the good wishes. Paul is doing better. He had a severe allergic reaction to penicillian. we think his dentist might have OD'd him on the stuff!

he's getting penty of rest and sleep and probably will not be back on for a few weeks. Any emails or things on the site will have to wait until then.

again, thanks for all of the prayers and best wishes

Posted by: sisterknight 27-Sep-2006, 11:06 AM
make sure he gets a medic alert bracelet!!!!very important!!!it happened to me, i found out the hard way...anaphilactic reaction!!!!they had to jump start my heart and stuff...it takes a body a while to get over it......rest, relax are the best medicine...so sit on your hubby!!!!

Posted by: stevenpd 27-Sep-2006, 02:06 PM
Thanks for the update Killian. Sit on him if you have to, but just get him to rest and keep all keyboards out of his reach until he's better. Continuing with my thoughts and prayers for the family. God bless.

Thanks for the update, Killian. Wow, that had to be pretty frightening!

We will keep Paul in prayer. We appreciate all you folks do and have done by providing this wonderful site. Keep him rested. We'll all still be here when he gets back! Lord bless!

OMG! We've had a similar incident like that here in Chicago! A 5-year-old girl is in a coma after a trip to the dentist's office.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-0609260216sep26,1,4144599.story?track=rss

Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Paul, you (and the entire CelticRadio.net family) are always in my prayers.

Posted by: Aaediwen 27-Sep-2006, 06:45 PM
I'll keep PMing him with updates on the new server, but indeed, I do not expect a reply until he's better! Granted he's probably already having some withdrawl symptoms, but make sure he doesn't stress his mind, fingers, or other aspects until he's recovered. That'll just put him back in the hospital, and we don't want that.

I'm not sure sitting on him would be a good move, might cause more stress than it would help. But chains might work if you have to.

Posted by: zeryx 28-Sep-2006, 01:47 PM
Indeed - don't let him come back until he's all well again, he just doesn't need that stress. We'll all be here waiting for his safe return regardless smile.gif

Posted by: Macfive 30-Sep-2006, 11:31 AM
Well I actually got to check my messages today! smile.gif

Thanks for everyone's thoughts & good wishes! Doing alot better, still some effects from the reaction it might take weeks for them to leave, but they seem to be more nuances than anything else.

Getting very bored just sitting watching court tv all day and staying inside. Will be glad to get back to work this Wednesday!

Will be coming off this drug called prednisone tommorow and then see if the symptoms come back - if so, I have to go back on prednisone and then go see an allergist.

Thought I was all cooked there when I was in the hospital and they didn't know what was happening to me. Well, you can bet I have going to have a different outlook on life after this!

Emails, Tech support, work on the site and all of that stuff will have to wait a few weeks.

Thanks again everyone!
