Celtic Radio Community > Celtic Music > YOU Pick What Ends Up On The CD!

Posted by: barddas 23-Jul-2004, 06:19 AM
There are the nine songs we have been thinking about recording. We want you to decide what three will end up on the next Cd! This poll will run for 1 month.
If you choose the 'other' catagory plaease list what song you are picking in a post.

I will tally the others at months end and post results of the poll!

THANK YOU!!!
Jason

Several good ones, but since I can only choose one, 'Back Home in Derry' gets my vote wink.gif

Couldn't choose just one - Sweet Afton, The May Day Song and Other........ I love 'Will you go, lassie, go'!

If you can track it down, find the sound track to the Rick Stein cookery course (BBC TV) - it is a great recording of the Padstow May Day Song.... I love his cooking and Padstow and will be eating in his restaurant in September!!!!

O'siyo,
Okay now before anyone 'slaps' me for not being correct, I will just say that I am new to CelticRadio and I am not familiar with the traditional songs~~ I love the majority of them I have been hearing and just thought I would suggest one that is just splendid~ biggrin.gif
~Glengarry Bhoys~Deep Inside~
I love the sound & words and just have no doubt that for a more contemporary band such as yours, you could add your own 'flavor' and really 'tear' this song up cool.gif

One I've always loved but rarely heard is Loch Maree. Don't know if you know it, but this is how it starts. The melody is beautiful.

"Come with me to a land o' heather, come with me to a land o' green.
Take my hand while we sit together, watch the sunset o're Loch Maree."

I'm not too familiar with the songs that were listed that's why I voted for "other". What I would love to hear on the cd would be either The Parting Glass, or Will Ye Go Lassies Go? I don't know if you consider those songs "traditional" I just really like them.

The Mickey Dam
Great trad song that isn't done nearly enough and has great potential for arrangement. I know a musician by the name of Duncan Cameron has it on his CD "The Whistling Thief"

I have an .mp3 if anyone wants a sample....

Cheers

Barddas, I am not familiar with your work in the past, but here are a couple of suggestions:

1. Ho Ro Mo Neighean Donn Boideach (I propably spelled it wrong, but if you are familiar with gaelic music you'll know it).

2. There Were Roses (the Tommy Sands classic)

3. Peggy Gordon

Thanks,

Rory MacAibhistin

Jason, I'd like to hear a few good ol' Stan tunes. (surprise)

How about, The Athens Queen, or Maid on the Shore? The Bluenose is mind boggling, but it only makes sense to those who have seen her, or another old Schooner roll the waves over.

I'd like to thank everyone for participating in this poll!

There are some really good 'others' suggestions, and we will have to go through them, and see what fits into the mix.

So for sure on the next, Barddas album will be- Caledonia and Back home in Derry!
That 3rd song is an offical toss up! LOL! With a 3 way tie of 3 of the songs in the list.
So I guess there will be a bit of a chiff hanger.....

Again, thank you for your support and for your input!!!
