Here are prototypes of a new product--can you guess or figure out what product it is? (No fair searching the internet) In one week I will post the answer if no one gets it.

Posted by: Rebecca Ann 24-Jun-2007, 03:47 PM
glass letters and shapes or hooks

Posted by: JaneyMae 25-Jun-2007, 10:30 AM
And yours is.................

A blank page, waiting for an imaginative person to put their thoughts, frustrations, and tales into words.

mihrs = what is it?

Posted by: sisterknight 25-Jun-2007, 10:42 AM
so would they be pussy cat tails??

Posted by: pflanary 25-Jun-2007, 10:45 AM
nope, nope and nope

Any more guesses? I'll give you a hint--I'm an audiologist.

Posted by: JaneyMae 25-Jun-2007, 10:54 AM
Sounds that the person is hearing and the levels?

Posted by: JaneyMae 25-Jun-2007, 10:55 AM
shapes of hearing aides?

Posted by: Donajhi 25-Jun-2007, 01:26 PM
I would say it is a deep ear implant to improve hearing.

Posted by: pflanary 25-Jun-2007, 02:46 PM
JaneyMae is correct. These are prototype hearing aids. They aren't in production yet and may never be. A student in Australia came up with the concept and design and entered it for a Dyson award.

Does any one have a picture to post for us to guess at or should I do another?

Posted by: JaneyMae 25-Jun-2007, 07:54 PM
That is soooo cool. Wish they would get it on the market. My granddaughter needs two - one left, one right.

Please post another - I have nothing to post.

Posted by: Lady of the Loch 26-Jun-2007, 08:33 AM
wow, I would have never of guessed that from the first picture at all

Posted by: sisterknight 26-Jun-2007, 11:23 AM
do it again!!do it again!!

Posted by: pflanary 26-Jun-2007, 11:28 AM
Okay.

Posted by: sisterknight 26-Jun-2007, 11:47 AM
is that like a TENS machine??

Posted by: Lady of the Loch 26-Jun-2007, 12:21 PM
my first thought is something like a blood pressure thingy, but I have no clue.

Posted by: pflanary 26-Jun-2007, 12:32 PM
Good guesses--it IS a medical device.

Posted by: Lady of the Loch 26-Jun-2007, 03:36 PM
does it count your heart beats? I still haven't a clue, but am just throwing stuff out there biggrin.gif

Posted by: Donajhi 26-Jun-2007, 07:05 PM
Is it a device for a weak joint?

Posted by: Lady of Avalon 26-Jun-2007, 07:10 PM
Glycemia measuring device?

Posted by: Rebecca Ann 26-Jun-2007, 08:30 PM
a mechanical arm. it helps move muscles that don't work

Posted by: pflanary 29-Jun-2007, 08:32 AM
Hint: it is designed to allow people to be cared for at home rather than in a hospital

Posted by: Lady of the Loch 29-Jun-2007, 12:50 PM
does it have to do with diabetics?

Posted by: pflanary 29-Jun-2007, 02:24 PM
no. I'll let ya'll guess some more then give you another hint in a day or so if no one has gotten it.

Posted by: JaneyMae 29-Jun-2007, 09:13 PM
a portable blood pressure dealy whopper?

Posted by: JaneyMae 29-Jun-2007, 09:14 PM
a stethoscope that transmits?

Posted by: pflanary 04-Jul-2007, 11:36 AM
Sorry to keep you all hanging. I've been ignoring the world. I've spoken to only 3 or 4 people in the last four days, I haven't watched any TV and it's been WONDERFUL! I finished watching all of my Stargate SG-1 DVDs (got to get seasons 9 and 10!!!) and unfortunatley will soon have to return to reality. I don't log on to the internet much from home anyway as my connections is soooo slooow.

As to what the picture is--its a portable IV to allow people to leave the hospital and recover at home and still take IV meds.

I don't have another picture to post right now (and probably couldn't post one using this connection), so someone else can or we can wait until I get back to work where I have a faster connection.

Posted by: Donajhi 04-Jul-2007, 11:57 AM
We, I should say I, as I should not speak for others, will wait.
Please don't forget. This is not only fun, but I am learning some
really great things. Thank you.

Posted by: pflanary 06-Jul-2007, 06:58 AM
Okay, I found another one. This one is really hard--I would never have gotten it if I had had to guess, so I will start you out with a clue:

It's something all of us use frequently.

Posted by: Donajhi 08-Jul-2007, 03:51 PM
Does it have to do with the teeth?

Posted by: Lady of Avalon 09-Jul-2007, 06:37 PM
Pen holder?

Posted by: sisterknight 11-Jul-2007, 09:49 AM
one of those frogs that hold flowers in a pot??

Posted by: Donajhi 13-Jul-2007, 11:20 AM
I am working on the assumption this is a medical device.
Is it a sonic tooth cleaner? biggrin.gif

Posted by: pflanary 13-Jul-2007, 12:54 PM
To catch up:

I thought it was a pen holder at first but in this case form definitely does not follow function.

It is not a medical device this time.

Hint 2: it is a widely used electronic device, or rather in its more conventional shape it is widely used.

Posted by: pflanary 18-Jul-2007, 10:34 AM
Taking a break between being run off my legs at work. Do ya'll want another hint or are you ready to give up?

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 19-Jul-2007, 10:05 PM
Almost reminds me of a fondu pot.

Posted by: Donajhi 29-Jul-2007, 01:51 PM

Posted by: Donajhi 01-Aug-2007, 11:49 AM
Is it an instrument used for computer graphic, like on the monitor screen?

Posted by: pflanary 02-Aug-2007, 07:38 AM
close--think less specific.

Posted by: Donajhi 02-Aug-2007, 08:05 PM
Are they styles?

Posted by: pflanary 07-Aug-2007, 06:19 AM
This is an object that many of use every day--just in a very unusual form. It is made up of several parts, at least one of which was mentioned above.

Posted by: Donajhi 13-Aug-2007, 12:53 PM
In what room of the house would you find this item? Does it have any connection to the computer?

Posted by: pflanary 16-Aug-2007, 03:14 PM
I guess it could be found in any room. It is more than connected to your computer.

Posted by: pflanary 20-Aug-2007, 03:01 PM
Last chance for anyone who is still playing. As soon as I get a chance to find another good picture I will give you the answer and post a new one. Unless someone else wants to post an "What is it?"

Posted by: sisterknight 21-Aug-2007, 11:23 AM
ok, ok i've looked at that d##n thing again and i still think it has to do with the mouse......but you threw me off with the any room...so give!! biggrin.gif

Make that two. What ever it is I could not afford one, looks to high tech. I am the basic dum-dum wacko.gif when it comes to computer items. If it does not have words to identify it's use.. forget it.

Believe it or not this is a computer. The pen-looking things are things like media controls, processor, etc and are interchangable. You can check out this and other strange-looking computers at:

Does anyone else want to post a picture or should I surf the web for one?

Posted by: Donajhi 24-Aug-2007, 12:07 PM
Please, be my guest. You are excellent at this game.......thanks

Posted by: Lady of Avalon 24-Aug-2007, 06:44 PM
Yes pflanery, you're good in finding weird things and make our minds working a little bit.

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 24-Aug-2007, 09:02 PM
That was cool. I want the one that looks like a cat.

Posted by: pflanary 29-Aug-2007, 08:08 AM
Okay, this one is different. It's neither electronic nor medical.

Posted by: Donajhi 29-Aug-2007, 09:42 AM
What ever it is, it is beautiful and scary at the same time.

Is it an old temple?

Posted by: ronw1 29-Aug-2007, 03:40 PM
i would guess the entrance to a cave dwelling or a tomb

Posted by: Lady of Avalon 29-Aug-2007, 04:44 PM
looks like a peacock sculpture on top of a grotto.

that's what it looks like to me when you enlarged the picture.

I don't know....

Posted by: Rebecca Ann 29-Aug-2007, 06:50 PM
It's the doorway to a stone house. looks like a hobbit house.

Posted by: pflanary 30-Aug-2007, 10:19 AM
Aaah! Either you are getting too smart with me or that one was too easy. Here are more weird homes. I think the one pictured above is the coolest.

http://www.bloganything.net/312/oddweird-house-designs

Posted by: Donajhi 30-Aug-2007, 10:29 AM
Those are some awesome homes. I would be tickled pink with anyone of them.
What do you think these people do for a living to be able to afford them?

Posted by: pflanary 30-Aug-2007, 10:36 AM
Here's the next one. I'll let you guess for a while before i give you a hint.

Magnifying Glass Stand unsure.gif

Posted by: Donajhi 31-Aug-2007, 10:40 AM

Posted by: Lady of Avalon 01-Sep-2007, 02:18 PM
either a pair a scissors or a letter opener on a stand???

Posted by: pflanary 12-Sep-2007, 12:40 PM
Sorry to be gone so long--not only have I been swamped at work but I have been driving an hour one way almost every evening after work to see my Dad in the hospital since 8-27. (He is doing well but will be in therapy for up to a year to regain full use of his left hand and lower arm.)

Here is a hint: This would likely be found in your office.

Got to go--work calls.

Posted by: pflanary 26-Sep-2007, 08:30 AM
Thanks for posting a picture for us. The bottom part looks like a futuristic chaise lounge but I haven't a clue about the upper part.

Posted by: Lady of Avalon 12-Oct-2007, 08:07 PM
What's happening with it???Anybody???

Posted by: stevenpd 12-Oct-2007, 08:36 PM
My apologies . . .

Both items are different versions of the same thing.

It's kinda like a modern twist of something that is modern in its conception.

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 19-Oct-2007, 03:11 PM
Looks like some sort of wire connector.
Or a really cool looking piece of the roll up candy.

Posted by: Lady of Avalon 20-Oct-2007, 07:45 PM
a modern fly catcher? tongue.gif

Posted by: pflanary 22-Oct-2007, 10:07 AM
I'm with Robert--looks like one of those computer ribon connectors with all the wires inside them.

Posted by: stevenpd 27-Oct-2007, 10:40 PM
It's actually a solar cell.

Posted by: pflanary 09-Nov-2007, 01:14 PM

Posted by: leenieww 09-Nov-2007, 03:34 PM

Posted by: Lady of Avalon 11-Nov-2007, 01:20 PM

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 12-Nov-2007, 07:21 PM
Either a hot tub for squirrels or a bird feeder

Posted by: pflanary 14-Nov-2007, 02:15 PM
Nope--guess again.

And while you are pondering on this, here are some more weird hearing aids. These are actually on the market.

Posted by: stevenpd 14-Nov-2007, 03:00 PM
Looks like a counter weight for a backyard siege engine.

Posted by: pflanary 15-Nov-2007, 08:32 AM
I wouldn't have thought of that, but you're right it does. Hint: you look in to or through it.

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 15-Nov-2007, 09:42 PM

Actually it looks like some sort of heating or cooling unit.

Posted by: leenieww 20-Nov-2007, 09:25 PM
I think you are close Robert...maybe some kind of mixed up radiator?? (does look like a square brain) biggrin.gif

designer's own words:
Fractal structures are often used to maximize performance of exchange surfaces, that’s why the radiator shape is inspired by the Peano space filling curve. On the contrary to what it might seem ; this complicated volume is quite easy to build, the first modules (cf technical plan, “8 joins”) are made of existing plumbing joins (a 90° M/F elbow) fitted together by rotation so it is unnecessary to produce a cast which already exists. Repeat the operation by using these modules instead of the initial join by join process to reach a second level (“64 joins”), then redo the assembly one more time with this new component to fulfill the product (“512 joins”). The final 34 cm³ structure achieves an excellent heat output thanks to a 2 m² surface area. (One more thing, the plastic is tinted with full mass-tone color but moulding all the parts with a thermosensitive PVC, that changes color according to the temperature of the water flowing inside, would make the radiator appear to glow.)

Wow! Robert got that one so quickly that I totally missed it--not that I would-ve had a clue. Very smart, Robert.

Posted by: pflanary 04-Feb-2008, 01:14 PM
Its been so long that I forgot what these were--had to go back on the internet and find them again. They are viewers for iPod videos so that you don't have to hold the iPod at eyelevel to see the screen, so leenieww was right.

Posted by: pflanary 10-Dec-2008, 09:16 PM
Here at last is another odd item--can you figure out what it is?

Posted by: valpal59 11-Dec-2008, 08:49 AM
Looks like a photo frame.

Val

Posted by: piobmhorpiper 15-Dec-2008, 07:17 AM
It's antique 3D picture viewer. Identical pictures are placed in the frame and when you focus on the figure in the center the pictures merge to form a 3 dimensional image!

Posted by: Lady-of-Avalon 15-Dec-2008, 06:40 PM
Looks like picture locket to me and at the same time when unfolded becomes a picture frame on stand.

LOA huh.gif

Posted by: piobmhorpiper 17-Dec-2008, 09:36 AM
No, no, this thing should have two mirrors (probably broken over the years) so you can put your earings on with out having to turn your head!

Posted by: RebeccaAnn 17-Dec-2008, 10:04 AM
It's a picture frame for two pictures that sets on a mantle.

Posted by: marti64 17-Dec-2008, 05:19 PM
A jewelry holder with a mirror

Posted by: piobmhorpiper 19-Dec-2008, 02:48 PM
This definitely a leprechauns stargate!

Posted by: pflanary 22-Dec-2008, 07:56 AM
It is a double picture frame. so RebeccaAnn had the best answer. Piobmhorpiper gets kudos for the most creative answer (leprechan stargate).
