DunDee, how are you doing lad? Here is a http://www.barleyjuice.com/home.asp to their website. I love the band, really great lyrics and they have a good sound.

I bought their newest disc "Another Round" and it is simply awesome. Everysong is fun and a blast to listen to. I highly recommend it.

See that is one thing I love about Celtic music, it is fun to listen to and your foot is always tapping when you listen. The music is mostly upbeat and sounds like a continual celebration.

Hey guys, I'll pass on you're great comments to my husband, he is one of the founders of Barleyjuice. He really appreciates hearing that people like his band. He and the rest of the band are in the process of writing new tunes and hopefully will have a new cd out in the fall after the gig season. They play lots of festivals and bars in the eastern PA area. Also they will be performing in NYC on April 2nd, Tartan Day, at Rocky Sullivans.
If you go to their website you can watch a promo video. You can find their website at http://www.barleyjuice.com/
They are so much fun to see live, they really put on a great show, they make you want to get up and do a jig!

Thanks again for your kind remarks!

My favorite cd is Another Round as well! I wonder why??

Cheers,
Nancy

You can let them know that I bought Another Round on Tuesday due to their exposure on this site and I can't wait until the CD arrives. The one song I had to have was Whiskey to the Sea although What's up yours? is rather catchy. Feel free to pass along my praise and thanks as well.

Thanks for the info Nancy! I wish I still lived in (or close to PA) just so I can see them. Do they ever get down toward NC at all?

Posted by: Rindy1202 18-Feb-2005, 08:51 PM
I think Barley Juice are fantastic. I live in the western US and have a lot of the people listening to them for the first time. I first heard of them here on CR. Then I managed to win their cd's. I think they are very fun, they put you in a good mood, which is important now a days.

[COLOR=purple]Brian, my husband, Swanny, said since they are bent on world domination, they will make it down to NC sooner or later! biggrin.gif
Seriously, I hope that the more exposure they get, the more likely they will be asked to perform at various festivals throughout the US.

He just read all of your comments and is so pleased and wishes Barleyjuice could come to everyone's town and perform! It's people like you who make it all worthwhile.

Also, many thanks Talleyrand for buying the cd.

Slainte,
Nancy

I have a thing for the more traditional(and yes sometimes over played/remade) irish tunes, and after hearing their rendition of Rosin The Bow I can honestly say I was hooked on the Barleyjuice. I gotta confess that I am one of the ones that request this song and band so much the request button next to their song names are getting worn out walkman.gif

Posted by: dundee 21-Feb-2005, 09:46 AM
aye i am with ye whistler...... lets get rosin the bow on the top ten........
we will start a grass roots movement..... let it swell across america...........
well at least get em on the top ten.... biggrin.gif

Posted by: bavariancyclist 24-Feb-2005, 06:06 PM
I'm a fan, what can I say other than it is a band with a sense of humor. I probably should buy a CD instead of clogging up the request queue.

cheers,

John

Everyone needs to contact the Bethlehem office and tell them we want Barleyjuice at their festival

And how might one go about doing this, if you didn't leave an e-mail or phone # to call?? rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Annabelle 27-Feb-2005, 11:22 AM
Would you like the e-mail address?

Posted by: A Shrule Egan 27-Feb-2005, 11:29 AM
Only if it's directly to John Sweeney. I don't wish to deal with anyone but the top dog.

Posted by: mingkee 27-Feb-2005, 04:31 PM
really?!
since I am living in Brooklyn, that I can go there
do you have the location
What's up yours? is pretty interesting

Posted by: A Shrule Egan 27-Feb-2005, 09:04 PM
Matt, we are trying to get an e-mail campaign going to contact John Sweeney, who is the Director for the Bethlehem Celtic Classic Festival and try to get Barleyjuice to perform there.

If you need to see them before that, they perform close to you frequently. Check out the web page schedule. There's a few shows coming up soon, that should be an easy drive for you.

http://www.barleyjuice.com/home.asp

Now, if Annabelle would post that e-mail address.

But you should come to Bethlehem in September anyway. Just jump on the GWB and take Rt. 80 into Pa. and take Rt. 209/33 south to Rt. 22W and follow to Bethlehem. I can give you better instructions when the time comes. Shouldn't take you any more than 2 hours to drive there from where you are.

Wow. You've gotta love the support that we get around this joint!

New Yorkers... we'll be in your "neck of the woods" a few times. Look for the Tartan Day celebration and the Talisker's Sailors Ball for dates and locations.

Brian in North Carolina... I wish we could get down there. If nothing else, we could hook-up with Hank at XMarks/HighlandTide in his own region.

For those pushing for the Celtic Classic appearance... it would be nice to return as a performer instead of a Seamus Kennedy watcher. There's NOTHING like the Celtic Classic.

For those who constantly request us... THANKS! For those who are buying the CD's... THANKS!

For those who build websites and internet radio stations... you've been there all along, and we don't forget that. The Highlander Radio shirt looks great with my Cape Breton tartan kilt onstage. I only hope that the links and references that we've pointed here are working-out too.

Posted by: TequilaNancy 12-Apr-2005, 05:41 AM
Hey Annabelle, did you ever find out John Sweeney's email address for the celtic classic? We sent out the press kit 6 weeks ago and no response yet. Just wondering.

Cheers,
Nancy

Hey Jimmy,

Thanks for the plug!!!

Good news, I have two brand new shirts for you and Kyf! These ones are white and I think you will like. No charge, on us this time. These new shirts use a different application process and I think you will like the results! biggrin.gif thumbs_up.gif

I'll probably be mailing them out sometime this weekend.

biggrin.gif Hey..I just ordered Another Round yesterday from CDBaby...can't wait for it to get here! Any thoughts of visiting Arizona? Remember - November to April...it's GREAT weather!! Thanks for the music!! cheers.gif amy

Posted by: ArizonaAmy9 26-Aug-2005, 10:54 AM
Welp...I ordered Another Round on Monday from cdbaby.com and on Wednesday it arrived! I was so glad too!!

I am in the middle of moving bedroom furniture and painting my children's bedrooms and I really needed some...ummm upbeat music to keep me going. Just when I was about ready to lay my paint roller down and call it a day, the mailman arrived and after Nancy Drinks Tequila (it was almost Amy Drinks Tequila) I kept going...now only four more walls to go!!

SO I am very happy with my new cd and with cdbaby too, if you need a celtic cd (or any other independent cd) try them first...

Thanks Barley Juice! My kids will be glad that all their walls match now!!

Barleyjuice is great. I never get sick of their songs - been playing them for almost 2 years now without any signs of stopping! wink.gif

Plus the donated an awesome Barleyjuice Tshirt for our Celtic Music Start kit contest which we will announce sometime tonight (Thursday nite!).

I'm lucky enough to have seen Barleyjuice perform live a few times in Philly, and I'm sad that when I move to North Carolina all I'll have is my CD's (which are a must-buy... I keep them in the car and listen to them often).

If Barleyjuice is ever playing in your town, cancel your previous engagements and make sure you go. Tell them Magnus sent you. You won't be sorry.

If you would really like the tabs or anything else from the band, feel free to email. Whenever possible, you'll get back exactly what you're looking for. Let them know that I directed you to the email and it may help for a response.

Macfive posted:

Word comes to us that the Fabulous Barleyjuice is offering a free download of a never before released track "Mull of Kintyre" in conjunction with their upcoming gig on March 1st, 2007 at the Iron Horse in Northampton Massachusetts (78 Main Street; 8:00 pm; 413-586-2632). Listen, if you live anywhere near Northamptom you need to see one of the finest Celtic Rock groups perform. These boys sure can put on a show - ask anyone on our Community forums about Barleyjuice and you will hear a resounding "hell ya - go see them."

Tickets at the door are $13, but you can buy a ticket directly from Barleyjuice for the reduced price of $10 by emailing Barleyjuice at [email protected] - plus they will hook you up with the free music download "Mull of Kintyre." This track was performed on the Linda McCartney tribute album and is a definite must additional to your music library for any Barleyjuice fan.

Pass this note on to anyone you know that lives in the area and might be interested in this show. Thanks so much from all of Celtic Radio!

We of the McGuires Pipe Band of Pensacola, FL are devotees of the boys (and girls) of Barleyjuice. In fact, for three years running at our annual ceilidh and at weddings and other gathrerings we perform favs such as "What's up yours", "Nancy Drinks Tequilla" and "Whisky to the Sea" (my personal favorite). Slàinte!
