I really enjoy Rise's music. It has a rebellious spirit with which I can identify. Some of the songs reminds of death and destruction the civilian populations received from union armies as this war criminals marched across The South. As I am a unreconstructed Southerner.

Check out this review of "Posing as Human" I found on the internet...

Here's my favorite part:

Rise is making the kind of music to which people obsessed with The Lord of the Rings must listen.

Ok, I'll admit to bias first off, and I will also say I can see where they come from on parts of it. But Sounds to me like they don't really realize what they have in that album. Sure it's a mix, and it's a mix similar to what they describe. But still, Rise's mix is different than others. Is it a bad thing to have a different kind of mix than what people are used to thinking of? Rise doesn't approach the definnition of 'Modern Celtic' in the same way as other bands do, and their work has a more contemporary/mainstream flavor because of it. Is this a bad thing? If you ask me, it's not a bad thing. It's just different. I like it. For those that don't, that's fine too. It's like Haggis, bagpipes, and pickled eggs. Either you like it or you don't. The author of that review apparently, doesn't like it.

This looks like one of those "alternative" reviewers that find themselves scrambling to say something original, and veer to the negative in the attempt. Not very savvy or informative musically, not very useful. Rise is a good band with their own complicated take that doesn't have a "one size fits all," typical celtic signature. Apparently that looks like a mish-mosh to this person.
