After I get showered and dressed, I thought I might rinse my bike off, take it to the local bicycle store and have the tires filled up.

Just got home. I'm tired.

I rinsed off and dried my bike. While I was doing that, I noticed the cable to the rear brakes was missing. I wasn't about to try to ride it with one working set of brakes. I called Beverly Schwinn (that's the local bike shop) and they said that it'd be about $10 to have it replaced and they could do it today. I walked my bike over and had them do it and put air in the tires. After that, I went for a ride around the neighborhood. Made me feel like a kid again. kid.gif

While I was waiting, I looked around and noticed how much bikes have changed since even I was a kid. I remember when the road bikes were in vogue. Nowadays, the kids want to be Dave Mirra more than they do Lance Armstrong. I also saw some retro bikes there, the ones without gears and you have to push back on the pedals to brake. I had one of those as a kid.

We've always bought our bikes from Beverly Schwinn and taken them there for service too. They've been in business for over 80 years, so they must be doing something right. Considering how people who grow up in this neighborhood tend to either stay or come back as adults, I wouldn't be suprised if they've sold bikes to five generations of some families.

I love bicycles, Mike! I used to ride one all the time! Now I have one of those indoor recumbent bikes, not as exciting. But it is too hot here to go riding six months out of the year so that is initially why we bought it.

Well I am eating and trying to catch up on the forums. Hubby went out of town today to watch his AZ Wildcats practice for the upcoming football season.

I hadn't been on a bicycle in years before today. I was a little unsteady at first, but then it came back to me.

I am trying to catch up again, but will be off here soon. We've got a storm heading this way.

I've finally got a bit of time to myself and am thoroughly enjoying it tongue.gif

I've started increasing the tempo of my workout at the local gym. Achy muscles today.... land like a petulant child they really are letting me know it! And to silence a petulant child-- I'll just have to give them more work to do. :lol

mmmmmmm...bicycles and coffee sound like heaven!

I was just reading all the posts..

I must say Mike you made me feel like a kid again thinking about it. I have a Schwinn bike in the shed- haven't rode it for years. It would need tires and the whole ball of wax...I am so glad you didn't get on and go with no brake cables...agh...

maggie enjoy your company!

Eventide I am glad your enjoying yourself.. Back to the board..

Surfing the net and listening to my Launch radio station.

Getting mentally prepared for the next few hours of studying I must do.

Fun, fun!
