- that's a little dissappointing but at least they haven't ruled out a tour in the future. At one point i had heard something about the band having little interest in coming over. Perhaps with an increaingly positive reaction to Bruce Guthro's solo music in Canada at least, there will be even more support for Runrig crossing the mighty atlantic.
Well, you still might have a chance in Canada or USA. I live in Peru unfortunately..lol, no chance to ever see them here... Martina
Thank you soooo much for putting "Thairis Air A Ghleann" onto the Playlist! I love that song!
I have to use public internet cafes in Peru , and only few ones have loudspeakers or phones..sigh....., but I looveee Thairis air a ghleann!! xxxxxxxxxx Martina
Well by now u know i am an ardent rr fan if u have followed my other postings lol. But i couldnt resist this one hehe. Aye they certainly are one of the best bands around; hopefully they will go on for a few years still as i easily can imagine u can get fed up living on the road for 30 years ... But dont lets think of that, brr it makes me shiver. The lads still have loads of fun and write brilliant songs and the new cd is due to come out around chrismas just in time for Barrowlands lol. I owe them soooo much ... Thanks Rory, Calum, Bruce, Malcolm, Iain and Brian for everything (and not just for bringing me up here ...). Well some of u might have guessed who i am lol so i would be interested who of the other chatters are in here. And maybe you know how to write Sgiathnach in the right way by now looool

Scottish in Heart :-))
In the darkest heart the pride of man will walk allone
's ged tha mi fada bhuat cha dhealaich sinn a chaoidh
Sunburst The morning moar The light of God The heart of youth I look around me My eyes find their rest on this garden The flower of the west
The silent skies An innocent heart Holding the moment away From time in the dark All I see. All I know Is touching the sacred earth Warming the hallowed ground
Walk on Walk on Walk on
Sunrise The colour frontier The ageing light The sight that knows no fear I look over Orinsay to the Trumisgarry shore To Aloter And the road to Ahmore
The silent skies An innocent heart Holding the moment away From time in the dark All I see. All I know Is touching the sacred earth Warming the hallowed ground
I survive the childhood universe And I step the naked heath Where the breathing of the vanished Lies in acres round my feet Past Loch Scadavagh Loch Fada And the flatlands to the east Where the dark blue mass of Eval Meets the rising Rock of Lee Between the Crogary and Maairi I started to descend Loch Aongais on my left hand side I look across to Clett Collies barking on the outrun Dunlin dancing on the sand Breakers show round Corran Vallique And empty the Atlantic on the strand
The silent skies An innocent heart Holding the moment away From time in the dark All I see. All I know Is touching the sacred earth Warming the hallowed ground
Thank ye Scottish! Aye a wonderful song and tho it is more about Uibhst it also applies to Skye where Rory, Calum, Donnie and Malcolm went to school. Long time it took them to find their Gaelic identity, twenty years i believe. They wrote a song about it - Fichead Bliadhna. I love their lyrics: one of my favourites is Heart of olden glory:
Theres thunder clouds round the hometown bay as I walk out in the rain Through the sepia showers and fotoflood days.
I caught a gleating glimpse of life and though the waters black as night The colours of Scotland leave you young inside.
There must be a place under the sun, where hearts of olden glory grow young.
There s a vision coming soon
Down the lens where the headlands stand i feel a healing through the land a cross for a people like the wind through your hands.
There must be a pace under the sun where hearts of olden glory grow young.
I love the Proclaimers.... the fact that they would not 'modify' their Fife accents for anyone is just one reason that I like them. The lyrics of their songs are great, too.
Their 'Letter from America' - with the echoes of the newer clearances in Scotland - 'Bathgate no more, Linwood no more, Irvine no more'..... all those places were the centres of industry in Scotland which have been decimated by industrial decline.... they are high unemployment black spots in Scotland and a reason why so many Scots emigrated in the 1970s 80s and 90s.... most have chosen to go to Australia - it's guaranteed sunshine and very British outlook appeals to so many!
I haven't seen any mention of 'Capercaillie' here. I have a number of their early CDs.
Aye the Proclaimers no bad .... and just to tease ye I saw them life in Portree this July. They are almost as good as Runrig . And their lifesshow s great. It was quite short though - but admittedly, watching the twins I think I know why they only played a bit more than an hour. Nevertheless it was a great night ... but now i am looking forward to Barrowlands LoL (verra impatient now hehe). Aye Capercaillie are superb too i ve got a couple of cds and tapes as well. Great for Gaelic Songs.
Runrig, they aren't bad. Not my favorite group though.
