| Does anyone have a friend or family member struggling with dementia? My FIL does and it has turned him into a mean SOB. To the point that he and my wife no longer speak to one another. We are also dealing with Parkinsons in my MIL. FIL does not deal with her disease in a calm, civilized, loving manner. He thinks she is faking her symptoms. Dementia has not allowed him to deal with these changes in life. It is a mess. |

| Both diseases are troubling to deal with but to have both in the same house has to be a nightmare. Sometimes the nastiness can come from the drugs and other times it is just plain frustration. My disease has made me the same way and I just have to come to grips with the fact that I need to be more mindfull of others, my dear wife does not hesitate to remind me of that fact. I hope your family can adjust and work it out. |

| My 87 year old Mom has some memory issues, but has not been formally diagnosed with dementia. She can recall events from 1943 with more clarity and description then she can 5 minutes ago. Sometimes she just does not remember things. Anyone dealing with memory issues or if you are pre-deposed to dementia through family history, I would seriously look into taking daily anti-inflammatories or aspirin. Also, daily coffee intake might be another remedy to starve off the grim reapers memory hold. Listen to music, play computer games and keep that brain active. |
