So. I'm getting married in Feb. and our wedding is celtic/irish themed. I haven't decided on the ceremony entirely. But I would like to somehow incorporate Gaelic into the day.

Does anyone have any nice poems, songs, etc. in gaelic? If you do please post them and the translations and if possible the pronunciations! Thanks!

There's a dear little plant that grows in our Isle
Twas St . Patrick himself, sure, that set it;
And the sun of his labour with pleasure did smile,
And with dew from his eye often wet it.
It grows through the bog, through the brake, through the
Mireland, and they call it the dear little shamrock of Ireland.

Scottish Gaelic:

Mille failte dhuit le d'bhreid,
(Meel-uh fal-tchuch ditch leh d'vre-dj)

Fad do re gun robh thu slan.
(Fad-do reh koon rov u slanh)

Mo ran la ithean dhuit is sith,
(Moh-ran lah-ich-un ditch is sih)

Le d'mhaitheas is le d'ni bhi fas.
(Le d'va-hes is leh d'ni vi fas).

It translates to:
A thousand welcomes to you with your wedding veil,
May you be healthy all your days.
May you be blessed with long life and peace,
May you grow old with goodness, and with riches.

An Old Wedding Blessing
May God be with you and bless you.
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward

May those who love us, love us.
And those who don't love us,
May God turn their hearts;
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles,
So we will know them by their limping.

Be ye our angel unawares
If after Kirk ye bide a wee,
There's some would like to speak to ye,
If after Kirk ye rise and flee
We' all seem cauld and still to ye.
The one that's in the seat with ye
Is stranger here than ye, maybe.
All here have got their fears and cares,
Add ye your soul unto our prayers,
Be ye our angel unawares.
? Scottish Blessing

Oh wow, that's beautiful. Thank you. All I have to do now is teach someone how to pronounce it and see if they will even do it. haha.

The church we are getting married is very strict about what is and what isn't allowed. For example, the church does not allow the unity candle. The church does not allow any music other than liturgical music. etc. It's been kinda hard cause there is a lot of irish music that I want at the church but I have to find a liturgical version of the songs I want. I found a few so I'm not toooooo worried yet.
