I'm just beginning to learn how to really use colored pencils. A kind person with a lot of portrait experience helps me sometimes. One thing I noticed recently, working with her, is how very many co!ors it can take, including some you would never expect in the blues and greens, to start rendering realistic skin tones. There is too much in the color of skin to be taking anything for granted; I hope this year is the year the truth of that squarely hits America more than skin deep.
